Best Celeste Build & Guide (2026) — Deadlock

Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 8 min read

Celeste is Deadlock's premier long-range spirit artillery. Her kit revolves around devastating area-of-effect damage, oppressive zone control, and teamfight-winning ultimates launched from safety. Whether you're picking her up for the first time or looking to optimize your ranked build, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Celeste in 2026.

Celeste Overview

Celeste excels as a backline spirit carry who controls space and melts teams from range. Her Starfall ability punishes grouped enemies, her Cosmic Tether locks down key targets, and her Supernova ultimate can single-handedly swing fights when positioned correctly. She scales incredibly hard with spirit power items and rewards players who master positioning and ability timing.

Strengths

  • Massive AoE damage that shreds grouped enemies in teamfights
  • Long engagement range lets her deal damage from safety
  • Strong zone control with Starfall and Cosmic Tether
  • Incredible late-game scaling — one of the hardest-carrying spirit heroes in the game

Weaknesses

  • Squishy and immobile — no built-in dash or escape tool
  • Vulnerable to dive heroes who can close the gap quickly
  • Relies on team peel to survive flanks and all-ins
  • Weak early game before spirit power items come online

Recommended Item Build

Based on data from over 11,000 ranked Celeste matches tracked on dodge.gg, here's the highest winrate build path.

Early Game (0–10 min)

  • Mystic Burst — Core spirit damage boost that amplifies Starfall poke and combo damage
  • Spirit Strike — Extra spirit power and sustain on ability hits to win early trades
  • Healing Rite — Essential lane sustain since Celeste has no built-in survivability
  • Extra Health — Makes you less of a free kill during the vulnerable early game

  • Torment Pulse — AoE spirit damage aura that punishes enemies who try to dive you
  • Reactive Barrier — Burst protection that buys you time to reposition when caught
  • Slowing Bullets — Your gun attacks slow fleeing enemies, helping you kite and chase

Ability Priority

  1. Starfall — Max this first. Your primary damage and wave clear ability. Each rank increases the AoE damage and reduces cooldown, letting you zone enemies and farm efficiently from range.
  2. Cosmic Tether — Max second. The tether locks down a target and slows them in an area. Higher ranks increase the slow duration and damage, making it nearly impossible for enemies to escape your follow-up.
  3. Astral Barrier — One early point for the defensive utility, then max third. The shield absorbs a burst of damage and gives you a brief window to reposition. Scaling improves the shield strength but your damage abilities take priority.
  4. Supernova (Ultimate) — Level whenever available. A massive channeled AoE that deals devastating spirit damage in a wide area. Properly positioned Supernovas win teamfights outright.

Playstyle Tips

Laning Phase

Celeste is a passive farmer in the early game who scales into a monster. Use Starfall to clear waves and poke from maximum range — don't step up for aggressive trades you can't win. Your goal is to hit your item timings, not to dominate lane. Take favorable trades when your abilities are up, but back off immediately after casting. Cosmic Tether is your panic button if someone dives you early.

Against aggressive melee heroes, keep maximum distance and use Starfall to punish them whenever they push the wave. Against other ranged heroes, trade abilities from cover and use Healing Rite to sustain through poke wars.

Mid Game

This is where Celeste starts to come online. With Cold Front and Torment Pulse purchased, your AoE damage becomes a serious teamfight threat. Stick with your team and position behind your frontline. In fights, open with Cosmic Tether on the highest-priority target, follow with Starfall on the grouped enemies, then look for Supernova angles on clumped teams. Never frontline — your job is to deal damage from safety.

Late Game

Late-game Celeste is a teamfight bomb. With Boundless Spirit and Mystic Reverb, your Starfall chunks enemies for massive percentages of their health. Supernova becomes a fight-ending ability that forces teams to scatter or die. Position carefully and wait for your team to engage before committing your abilities. Use Ethereal Shift to dodge assassination attempts, and Escalating Exposure to ramp your damage in extended fights. A well-played late-game Celeste carries harder than almost any other hero.

Matchups

Favorable

  • Abrams — He has to run at you in a straight line, making him an easy Cosmic Tether and Starfall target; you kite him endlessly
  • Mo & Krill — Their telegraphed engage is easy to react to with Astral Barrier, and they can't reach you through your zone control
  • Kelvin — You outrange him completely; he can never close the gap against your slows and AoE

Even

  • Seven — Both are AoE spirit mages; the fight comes down to who positions their ultimate better
  • Dynamo — His healing sustains through your poke, but your burst combo can overwhelm it in teamfights
  • Infernus — His damage-over-time pressures you, but you outrange and outscale him in grouped fights

Unfavorable

  • Haze — Her mobility and burst damage let her dive past your team and delete you before you can react
  • Shiv — His gap-closing kit and sustained pressure overwhelm your limited self-peel
  • Wraith — She matches your range and scaling while being harder to pin down; a mirror skill matchup that favors her mobility
