Deadlock Ranked Season 1 is Live

The first official ranked season has launched with new rank tiers, placement matches, and seasonal rewards. Track your climb on dodge.gg.

Valve has officially launched Ranked Season 1 for Deadlock, marking a major milestone for the competitive scene. After months of unranked play and community feedback, the ranked ladder is here — and dodge.gg is ready to help you track every step of the climb.

What's New in Season 1

The ranked system introduces 13 tiers ranging from Obscurus all the way up to Eternus. Each tier has six sub-divisions, giving players a granular sense of progression. Your initial rank is determined by 10 placement matches that evaluate your individual performance alongside win/loss results.

Rank Tiers

  • Obscurus → Caster — Entry-level tiers for new and casual players
  • Alchemist → Arcanist — Mid-range tiers where most of the player base sits
  • Ritualist → Oracle — Upper tiers requiring consistent play
  • Phantom → Eternus — Elite tiers reserved for the top percentile
Rank Distribution
Obscurus – Caster~25%
Alchemist – Arcanist~45%
Ritualist – Oracle~22%
Phantom – Eternus~8%

Placement Matches

10 matches determine your initial rank based on individual performance and win/loss results

Seasonal Rewards

Valve has confirmed that each season will offer exclusive cosmetic rewards based on your peak rank during the season. Season 1 rewards include ranked profile borders, loading screen art, and a unique weapon skin for Eternus players.

How Dodge.gg Tracks Your Rank

We've updated player profiles to prominently display your current rank badge, sub-tier, and estimated MMR. The rank history graph on your profile page shows your progression over time so you can visualize your climb — or identify when you hit a plateau.

Our Leaderboard page now pulls live ranked data, letting you see where you stand against the top players globally or within your region.

Tips for Climbing

Based on early data from thousands of matches, here are some patterns we've noticed:

  1. Hero pool depth matters. Players who can flex between 3-5 heroes tend to have higher winrates in ranked than one-tricks.
  2. Objective play wins games. Kill-focused players plateau earlier than those who prioritize objectives and map control.
  3. Duo queue is the sweet spot. Solo queue has the highest variance, while three-stacks and above face longer queue times. Duo queue balances coordination with matchmaking speed.
