Best Holliday Build & Guide (2026) — Deadlock
Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 8 min read
Holliday is Deadlock's sharpshooter outlaw. Armed with a six-shooter, explosive barrels, and a spirit lasso, her kit rewards players who land headshots, control space with explosives, and use creative mobility to outplay opponents. Whether you're picking her up for the first time or looking to optimize your ranked build, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Holliday in 2026.
Holliday Overview
Holliday excels as a burst-damage duelist who combines precise weapon shots with explosive spirit damage. Her Crackshot passive turns every headshot into a devastating trade, Powder Keg gives her one of the highest burst combos in the game, and Bounce Pad provides unique mobility that most heroes can't match. She's strongest in the early-to-mid game where her lane dominance translates into a snowballing lead.
Strengths
- Devastating headshot burst through Crackshot's bonus damage and slow
- High AoE burst with well-placed Powder Keg detonations
- Creative mobility through Bounce Pad launches and verticality
- Strong lane bully who wins most early trades with superior poke
Weaknesses
- Aim-dependent — Crackshot's value drops dramatically if you miss headshots
- Punished by dive heroes who get past her Bounce Pad spacing
- Powder Keg is telegraphed and experienced players dodge it consistently
- Falls off late game compared to hyperscaling carries
Recommended Item Build
Based on data from over 12,000 ranked Holliday matches tracked on dodge.gg, here's the highest winrate build path.
Early Game (0–10 min)
- Headshot Booster — Core synergy with Crackshot; amplifies your already-punishing headshot damage
- Mystic Burst — Spirit damage boost that makes Powder Keg explosions hit significantly harder
- Spirit Strike — Extra spirit power and sustain on ability hits for stronger trades
- Healing Rite — Lane sustain that lets you stay aggressive and trade without backing

Mid Game (10–20 min)
- Slowing Bullets — Your gun attacks slow targets, making it easy to land follow-up headshots and Powder Keg
- Cold Front — Spirit damage slow that guarantees your combo connects and prevents escapes
- Torment Pulse — AoE spirit damage aura that adds pressure when you Bounce Pad into close range
- Reactive Barrier — Burst protection for when enemies try to trade back into your aggression

Late Game (20+ min)
- Boundless Spirit — Your best-in-slot scaling item; massively amplifies Powder Keg and Spirit Lasso damage
- Mystic Reverb — Ability hits echo for additional spirit damage, making your burst combo lethal
- Ethereal Shift — Invulnerability dodge that buys time if you get caught out of position
- Escalating Exposure — Stacking spirit amp on targets makes follow-up damage from you and your team devastating

Ability Priority
- Powder Keg — Max this first. The explosive barrel is Holliday's primary burst tool and wave clear. Each rank increases the explosion damage and radius. Learn how momentum affects the barrel's roll — dash or jump to increase travel distance, look down while moving backward to keep it stationary, and shoot or melee it to control detonation timing.
- Bounce Pad — Max second. The launch pad is your mobility, engage, and escape tool. Higher ranks increase the landing damage and reduce cooldown. Bounce Pad also extends Spirit Lasso's duration, making the two abilities a devastating combo.
- Crackshot — One early point for the headshot bonus, then max third. The passive makes your headshots deal bonus damage and apply a fading move speed slow. It ignores range damage fall-off, letting you snipe from any distance. Scaling adds more bonus damage per rank.
- Spirit Lasso (Ultimate) — Level whenever available. Holliday throws her lasso to pull, stun, and deal spirit damage to the target. Using a Bounce Pad extends the lasso duration, letting you drag enemies into your team or off high ground.
Playstyle Tips
Laning Phase
Holliday is an aggressive lane poker who wins through headshot trades and Powder Keg zoning. Use Crackshot headshots to chunk enemies every time the passive comes off cooldown — the slow makes it easy to land follow-up shots. Drop Powder Keg on the creep wave to clear and poke simultaneously. Place Bounce Pad defensively to escape ganks, or aggressively to launch yourself over the enemy for a flanking angle.
Against melee heroes, keep maximum distance and punish every approach with headshots and barrels. Against other ranged heroes, use cover to peek for Crackshot procs and trade Powder Keg poke — your burst trades usually come out ahead.
Mid Game
This is Holliday's peak power spike. With Slowing Bullets and Cold Front online, no one escapes your damage. Roam between lanes looking for picks — your burst combo of Powder Keg into Crackshot headshots kills most heroes. Use Spirit Lasso to pull enemies out of position or into your team. In teamfights, position at mid-range and focus the highest-priority target with your burst rotation.
The ideal kill sequence is: Slowing Bullets on target → Powder Keg for burst → Crackshot headshot for the slow → gun them down. If they try to run, Spirit Lasso them back and finish.
Late Game
Late-game Holliday transitions from a duelist into a combo mage. With Boundless Spirit and Mystic Reverb, your Powder Keg and Spirit Lasso deal enormous damage. You can't out-DPS hypercarries in sustained gunfights, so your value comes from landing burst combos on priority targets before the fight even starts. Use Bounce Pad for creative angles — launching over walls or terrain for surprise Spirit Lasso catches wins fights.
Position patiently and look for pick opportunities. A well-placed Powder Keg on a grouped enemy team followed by Spirit Lasso on the carry can end fights instantly. Use Ethereal Shift to survive if the enemy team collapses on you after your combo.
Matchups
Favorable
- Mo & Krill — Spirit Lasso interrupts their engage, and Bounce Pad creates distance they can't close
- Abrams — Powder Keg and Bounce Pad keep him at arm's length; Spirit Lasso punishes his Shoulder Charge
- Kelvin — You outrange him completely; your poke and mobility prevent him from ever getting close
Even
- Infernus — Both are strong laners; his damage-over-time trades with your burst poke. Depends on who lands their key abilities
- Viscous — Goo ball blocks your Powder Keg, but you can play around his cooldowns and punish when it's down
- Bebop — Both have powerful pick tools; comes down to whether you dodge his hook or he dodges your barrel
Unfavorable
- Haze — Her mobility makes Powder Keg nearly impossible to land, and she bursts you faster than you can burst her
- Apollo — His combo outbursts yours and Riposte counters your predictable damage pattern
- Wraith — She outranges you, outscales you, and her mobility makes landing your abilities difficult
