Best Lash Build & Guide (2026) — Deadlock

Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 8 min read

Lash is Deadlock's most mobile spirit fighter. A grappling acrobat who swings across the map at breakneck speed, slams enemies into the ground from above, and flings entire teams into the air with his ultimate, Lash rewards players who master vertical movement and aggressive, high-tempo play. Whether you're picking him up for the first time or looking to optimize your ranked build, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Lash in 2026.

Lash Overview

Lash excels as a high-mobility spirit brawler who controls the vertical space better than any other hero. His Grapple lets him traverse the map faster than anyone, Ground Strike slams down from above for devastating AoE spirit damage, and his Death Slam ultimate grabs an enemy and flings them skyward before slamming them back to earth. He's strongest in the mid game when his spirit power items amplify his already-lethal combo, and his map mobility lets him be everywhere at once.

Strengths

  • Unmatched mobility with Grapple for map traversal, flanks, and escapes
  • Devastating AoE burst with Ground Strike slamming grouped enemies from above
  • Incredible gank potential — arrives from unexpected angles faster than any hero
  • Fight-resetting ultimate that isolates and kills any target he catches

Weaknesses

  • High skill ceiling — Grapple mechanics and Ground Strike angles require practice
  • Squishy when caught on the ground without Grapple available
  • Punished by CC that grounds him or interrupts his aerial combos
  • Falls off against grouped teams that don't give him isolated targets to pick

Ability Priority

  1. Ground Strike — Max this first. Your signature damage ability. Lash leaps into the air and slams down, dealing massive AoE spirit damage in the landing zone. Each rank dramatically increases the damage and radius, making it your primary kill tool and wave clear.
  2. Flog — Max second. The whip lash deals spirit damage in a line and applies a slow. Higher ranks increase the damage, slow strength, and range, making it a reliable follow-up after Ground Strike to finish kills.
  3. Grapple — One early point for the mobility, then max third. The swing is powerful at rank 1 for traversal and positioning. Higher ranks reduce cooldown and add distance, but your damage abilities take priority.
  4. Death Slam (Ultimate) — Level whenever available. Lash grabs a targeted enemy, leaps into the air, and slams them into the ground for massive spirit damage. The target is displaced and stunned, making it a guaranteed kill with team follow-up.

Playstyle Tips

Laning Phase

Lash is a vertical aggressor who wins lane through angles no other hero can access. Use Grapple to reach elevated positions above your lane, then Ground Strike down onto the enemy for trades they can't reciprocate. Flog from range to poke and slow enemies contesting last hits. Your mobility advantage means you can take trades, swing away to safety, and re-engage before the enemy can respond.

Against ranged heroes, use terrain and Grapple to close distance from unexpected angles — a Ground Strike from above is almost impossible to dodge. Against melee heroes, stay elevated and poke with Flog, only committing to Ground Strike when you can secure the kill or win the trade decisively.

Mid Game

This is Lash's power spike. With Cold Front and Torment Pulse online, your combo kills most heroes outright: Grapple to a flanking position above the enemy, Ground Strike onto them, Flog to slow and finish, then Grapple away. Your map mobility means you can gank every lane in rapid succession — farm a wave, swing to the adjacent lane, get a kill, swing back.

In teamfights, don't initiate from the front. Use Grapple to reach an elevated flank, wait for your team to engage, then Ground Strike onto the enemy backline. Death Slam the highest-value target to isolate and kill them. Your job is to create chaos from above while your team capitalizes below.

Late Game

Late-game Lash is a spirit-damage dive bomber. With Boundless Spirit, a full-height Ground Strike one-shots squishy carries. Unstoppable ensures your Death Slam goes off without interruption. Your teamfight pattern is: Grapple to height, Ground Strike the clump, Death Slam the carry, Ethereal Shift to survive the retaliation, then Grapple out.

Patience and angle selection are everything. A poorly timed Ground Strike into a prepared enemy team gets you killed instantly. Wait for key CC abilities to be used, find the perfect angle above the backline, and commit only when you can guarantee the kill. Lash's late game isn't about sustained fighting — it's about one perfect moment of devastation from above.

Matchups

Favorable

  • Celeste — She's immobile and positioned in the backline; Ground Strike from above deletes her before she can react
  • Pocket — He can't dodge your aerial engage and dies to your burst combo; his briefcase doesn't save him from Death Slam
  • Ivy — She can't peel you when you dive from above; Ground Strike hits both her and her carry simultaneously

Even

  • Infernus — His DoT punishes your aggressive dives, but your burst and mobility give you windows to outplay
  • Bebop — His hook threatens you, but your aerial movement makes you hard to hook; skill-dependent matchup
  • Apollo — His burst combos match yours; the fight is decided by who lands their combo first

Unfavorable

  • McGinnis — Turrets zone you out of your preferred dive angles; she controls the airspace you need
  • Seven — His AoE stun catches you during Ground Strike animation and his sustained damage punishes your committal dives
  • Dynamo — Singularity pulls you out of the air and his healing sustains his team through your burst
