Best Mirage Build & Guide (2026) — Deadlock
Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 8 min read
Mirage is Deadlock's spirit-scaling marksman. A patient, methodical fighter who whittles enemies down with sustained spirit poke before finishing them with his empowered Scarabs, Mirage rewards players who master spacing, ability weaving, and cooldown management. Whether you're picking him up for the first time or looking to optimize your ranked build, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Mirage in 2026.
Mirage Overview
Mirage excels as a sustained spirit poke carry who controls the pace of fights from mid range. His Tornado throws out a devastating spirit projectile that shreds grouped enemies, Fire Scarabs provide persistent zone damage that forces enemies to reposition, and his Traveler ultimate creates a decoy that confuses and repositions him across the battlefield. He scales exceptionally well with spirit power and becomes a constant source of damage pressure that's difficult to ignore.
Strengths
- Relentless spirit poke that whittles enemies down before fights even start
- Strong zone control with Fire Scarabs forcing enemies out of key positions
- Deceptive mobility with Traveler creating confusion and repositioning options
- Excellent scaling — spirit power items amplify his entire kit multiplicatively
Weaknesses
- No burst damage — kills through sustained pressure, not one-shot combos
- Immobile without Traveler — vulnerable to dive heroes when ultimate is down
- Predictable poke patterns that experienced players can dodge or play around
- Weak against hard engage that closes distance before his poke takes effect
Recommended Item Build
Based on data from over 10,000 ranked Mirage matches tracked on dodge.gg, here's the highest winrate build path.
Early Game (0–10 min)
- Mystic Burst — Core spirit damage boost that amplifies Tornado poke and Scarab damage
- Extra Spirit — Cheap spirit power spike that improves all your abilities immediately
- Healing Rite — Sustain to stay in lane and poke from safety without backing
- Spirit Strike — Spirit power and sustain on ability hits for winning extended trades

Mid Game (10–20 min)
- Cold Front — Spirit damage slow that guarantees Tornado and Scarabs connect on slowed targets
- Torment Pulse — AoE spirit damage aura that adds to your sustained damage pressure in fights
- Mystic Vulnerability — Amplifies spirit damage on your target, making your poke chain lethal
- Reactive Barrier — Burst protection when enemies finally close the gap on you

Late Game (20+ min)
- Boundless Spirit — Your best-in-slot scaling item; massively amplifies all ability damage
- Mystic Reverb — Ability hits echo for additional spirit damage, doubling the impact of every Tornado
- Ethereal Shift — Invulnerability dodge that saves you from assassins and dive heroes
- Escalating Exposure — Stacking spirit amp on targets makes your sustained poke scale into kill pressure

Ability Priority
- Tornado — Max this first. Your primary poke and damage ability. Each rank increases the spirit damage, projectile speed, and reduces cooldown. A max-rank Tornado on a short cooldown is constant pressure that enemies can't ignore.
- Fire Scarabs — Max second. The persistent zone damage ability forces enemies to move out of key positions. Higher ranks increase the Scarab count, damage, and area, turning them into a devastating zoning tool around objectives.
- Traveler — One early point for the mobility and decoy utility, then max third. The clone confuses enemies and the teleport gives you an escape. Higher ranks reduce cooldown and improve the clone's believability.
- Djinn's Mark (Ultimate) — Level whenever available. Mirage marks an enemy, amplifying all spirit damage they take and providing vision. Combined with your sustained poke, a marked target melts under your team's focused fire.
Playstyle Tips
Laning Phase
Mirage is a poke-dominant laner who wins through attrition. Use Tornado to harass from maximum range whenever the enemy steps forward to last-hit. Fire Scarabs zone the enemy off the creep wave and deal damage if they try to contest. You don't need to all-in — just keep poking, and eventually the enemy is too low to stay in lane.
Against aggressive melee heroes, use Fire Scarabs as a barrier between you and them, and Tornado to punish their approach. Against ranged heroes, trade Tornados from cover and use your superior spirit scaling to win the poke war over time. If someone dives you, Traveler out and re-engage from a safe distance.
Mid Game
This is where Mirage becomes a siege machine. With Cold Front and Mystic Vulnerability online, your poke chain chunks enemies for serious health. Before teamfights, throw Tornados and Scarabs into the enemy team to soften them up. In fights, position at mid range and constantly cycle abilities — Tornado, Scarabs, gun shots, repeat. Use Djinn's Mark on the enemy carry to amplify all incoming spirit damage on them.
Traveler gives you unique macro play. Send the clone to one lane while you push another, forcing the enemy to guess which Mirage is real. When they commit to the wrong one, teleport to the clone and take the uncontested objective.
Late Game
Late-game Mirage is a sustained damage engine. With Boundless Spirit and Mystic Reverb, every Tornado chunks enemies for massive health. Escalating Exposure means your damage ramps on targets you focus, making extended fights increasingly one-sided. Your job is to stay alive and keep cycling abilities — the longer a fight goes, the more it favors you.
Use Djinn's Mark on the highest-priority target before fights and let your team focus them down under the spirit amp. Ethereal Shift is your lifeline against assassins — save it for when Haze, Calico, or Drifter jump you. Position behind your frontline and trust your range advantage. A Mirage who stays alive for the full duration of a teamfight deals more total damage than almost any other hero.
Matchups
Favorable
- Kelvin — You outrange him completely and your sustained poke melts his health before he can close the gap
- Mo & Krill — Their engage is telegraphed; Traveler dodges it and you punish them with Scarabs and Tornado on the way out
- Abrams — He has to run through your Fire Scarabs to reach you, taking massive damage before the fight even starts
Even
- Infernus — Both are sustained damage dealers; the fight comes down to who manages spacing and cooldowns better
- Lady Geist — Her drain and poke match yours; neither side has a clear damage advantage in lane
- Viscous — His defensive tools absorb your poke, but you outscale him and he can't kill you through your positioning
Unfavorable
- Calico — She flanks past your poke range and bursts you before Traveler can save you
- Haze — Her stealth engage bypasses your zoning entirely; Bullet Dance kills you through Reactive Barrier
- Drifter — He teleports behind you, negating your range advantage, and his burst damage kills you in isolation
