Best Mo & Krill Build & Guide (2026) — Deadlock

Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 8 min read

Mo & Krill is Deadlock's most durable dive tank. This two-in-one duo combines burrowing ambushes, AoE sustain, enemy disarms, and one of the most punishing single-target lockdowns in the game. Whether you're picking them up for the first time or looking to optimize your ranked build, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Mo & Krill in 2026.

Mo & Krill Overview

Mo & Krill excels as a frontline dive tank who burrows into the enemy backline and locks down priority targets. Scorn provides AoE damage with built-in sustain that scales with enemy hero count, Burrow is one of the best gap closers in the game with a knockup on exit, Sand Blast disarms enemy carries to shut down their DPS, and Combo holds a single target in place for your team to collapse on — permanently gaining max health on kills. They're the ultimate "run at you" hero who snowballs into an unkillable monster.

Strengths

  • Extreme durability with built-in healing, armor during Burrow, and permanent max HP from Combo kills
  • Powerful single-target lockdown — Combo holds an enemy in place for several seconds
  • Strong gap closing with Burrow's underground speed and knockup on exit
  • Carry shutdown through Sand Blast's disarm removing enemy DPS from fights

Weaknesses

  • Telegraphed engage — Burrow is predictable and experienced players pre-position to avoid it
  • Vulnerable to kiting by ranged heroes who can maintain distance
  • Combo is interruptible by CC, making it unreliable without Unstoppable
  • Falls off at high ranks where teams coordinate peel to negate your dive

Ability Priority

  1. Combo (Ultimate) — Prioritize leveling this whenever available. Each rank increases the channel duration, damage, and health recovery. Combo permanently grants max HP on kills, making it your most important scaling tool. The longer lockdown at higher ranks gives your team more time to follow up.
  2. Scorn — Max this first among basic abilities. The AoE damage and self-heal is your primary sustain in fights. Higher ranks increase damage and healing, and the level 3 upgrade adds a 15% damage amp debuff that stacks for 16 seconds, making locked-down targets melt.
  3. Burrow — Max second. Your signature engage tool. Higher ranks increase the underground speed, armor values, and knockup radius on exit. Reduced cooldown at max rank lets you engage more frequently.
  4. Sand Blast — One early point for the disarm utility, then max third. The cone spray disarms enemies and deals damage. The disarm duration is strong at rank 1; scaling adds more damage but the other abilities are higher priority.

Playstyle Tips

Laning Phase

Mo & Krill is a melee lane brawler who wants to get in the enemy's face early and often. Use Scorn to last-hit and trade simultaneously — the self-heal means you win most melee-range exchanges. Against ranged heroes, play behind cover and look for Burrow engage opportunities once you have it. The combo is: Burrow in → knockup on exit → Scorn → Sand Blast to disarm → gun them down.

Don't be afraid to trade aggressively. Your built-in sustain is stronger than most heroes at level 1. If you can force the enemy to respect your melee range, you'll out-farm them through creep denial.

Mid Game

This is where Mo & Krill becomes a relentless dive threat. With Enduring Speed and Metal Skin online, you're fast enough to catch anyone and tanky enough to survive the focus fire. Your primary job is to Burrow into the enemy backline and Combo the highest-value carry. Every Combo kill permanently increases your max health, so target squishy heroes you can guarantee the kill on.

The ideal engage sequence is: Burrow → surface knockup → Scorn for the damage amp → Sand Blast to disarm → Combo the target. With your team following up, almost no hero survives this sequence. Communicate your Burrow timing so your team is ready to collapse.

Late Game

Late-game Mo & Krill with stacked Combo HP is an unkillable disruption machine. With Unstoppable online, your Combo becomes nearly impossible to interrupt. Leech and Colossus make you absurdly tanky — you can dive into the entire enemy team, Combo their carry, and walk out alive.

Your role in teamfights is simple: Burrow into the backline, Combo the most dangerous enemy, and let your team clean up while you absorb punishment. Sand Blast the next-highest DPS target to remove them from the fight. Scorn constantly for AoE damage and healing. In the late game, you're the initiator — your team fights around your Burrow timing. Wait for the right moment, then go in. A successful Combo on the enemy carry wins the fight.

Matchups

Favorable

  • Pocket — He's too fragile to survive your Burrow into Combo; he has no escape once you're on top of him
  • Ivy — She can't peel you off once you Burrow in; your sustained damage and lockdown overwhelm her healing
  • Mirage — His sustained poke doesn't matter when you Burrow past it and Combo him from point blank

Even

  • Abrams — Both melee brawlers with sustain; comes down to who manages cooldowns and positioning better
  • Billy — Both CC-heavy dive heroes with similar engage patterns; Billy's Chain Gang matches your Combo in impact
  • Kelvin — His slows reduce your effectiveness but you match his tankiness; neither can kill the other easily

Unfavorable

  • Haze — She kites you endlessly and bursts you down; Burrow is too telegraphed for her to not dodge
  • McGinnis — Turrets shred you while you try to close the gap; her zone control hard-counters your dive
  • Wraith — She outranges you completely and can burst you before you reach Combo range
