Best Camille Build & Guide (2026) — League of Legends
The definitive Camille build guide for 2026. Optimal items, runes, ability order, playstyle tips, and matchup advice backed by data from thousands of ranked League of Legends matches.
Camille is League of Legends' Steel Shadow — a precision-focused top lane diver who locks down isolated targets and splits apart teamfights with surgical engages. Whether you're a top lane main who thrives on split pushing and outplaying duels or a player who wants to dictate teamfights by diving the backline, this guide covers everything you need to dominate with Camille in 2026.
Camille Overview
Camille operates as a fighter/diver who excels at split pushing, picking off isolated targets, and locking down priority champions in teamfights. Her passive, Adaptive Defenses, grants a shield based on the damage type of the enemy she auto attacks — physical or magic — giving her a free trading tool that absorbs a significant chunk of incoming damage every few seconds. Precision Protocol (Q) empowers Camille's next two auto attacks with bonus physical damage. The second Q hit, after a brief delay, converts a portion of the damage to true damage, making it one of the most potent trading tools in the game that no amount of armor can fully mitigate. Tactical Sweep (W) sweeps in a cone, dealing physical damage and slowing enemies hit by the outer half while healing Camille based on the damage dealt to champions — her primary sustain tool in lane that also helps her set up trades. Hookshot (E) fires a grappling hook to a wall, then launches Camille toward a target location, stunning enemies she collides with and granting bonus attack speed. Hookshot is Camille's signature engage, escape, and playmaking ability — the long range and wall requirement create unique gank paths and surprising engages from fog of war. Hextech Ultimatum (R) leaps to an enemy champion and creates a zone that locks the target inside, preventing them from leaving by any means while knocking away all other enemies. The zone deals magic damage on impact and persists for several seconds, giving Camille a guaranteed window to unleash her full combo on the trapped target.
Strengths
- True damage on Q2 ignores all defenses — Precision Protocol's second hit converts a massive portion of its damage to true damage that cannot be reduced by armor, magic resist, or shields. This means Camille always has kill threat against tanks and bruisers who stack resistances, and late-game Q2 hits can chunk even the tankiest frontliners for 800+ true damage. No champion can itemize against Camille's core trading pattern
- Exceptional target access and lockdown — Hookshot into Hextech Ultimatum gives Camille one of the most reliable engage combos in the game. She can fly over walls from fog of war, stun her target, and immediately ult to trap them in a zone they cannot escape. No other champion can isolate a single target as effectively, making Camille a constant threat to squishy carries who think they are safe behind their frontline
- Strong split push pressure — Camille's dueling power, mobility, and tower-taking speed make her one of the best split pushers in the game. She wins most 1v1s with her true damage and shield, escapes ganks with Hookshot over walls, and takes towers quickly with Sheen procs and Q empowered attacks. Enemies must send multiple champions to answer Camille's split, freeing objectives for her team
- Versatile defensive passive — Adaptive Defenses reads the enemy's damage type and grants the appropriate shield, making Camille deceptively tanky in trades. Against AD champions the shield blocks physical damage, and against AP champions it blocks magic damage. This free shield on a moderate cooldown means Camille wins short trades against most top laners simply by auto attacking when her passive is available
Weaknesses
- Weak early laning before Sheen — Camille's base damage is low before she completes Sheen, and her Q cooldown is long at early ranks. Aggressive laners like Darius, Renekton, and Olaf can bully Camille off CS and build leads before she reaches her first item spike. Camille needs to play safe and concede some CS in many matchups until she has the items to fight back
- Hookshot is telegraphed and punishable — Hookshot requires a nearby wall and has a visible wind-up as Camille attaches to the wall before launching. Alert enemies can dodge, interrupt, or punish the predictable trajectory. If Hookshot is used aggressively and misses or is interrupted, Camille has no escape and is stuck in a vulnerable position with a long cooldown
- Reliant on flanks and isolation — Camille's kit is designed to isolate and duel a single target, but in 5v5 teamfights where enemies group tightly, she struggles to find the angles she needs. Hextech Ultimatum locks Camille into the zone as well, so ulting into a grouped enemy team often results in getting collapsed on and killed. Camille needs flanks, split scenarios, or numbers advantages to engage safely
- Falls behind hard when losing lane — Camille's effectiveness depends on reaching Trinity Force at a reasonable time. If she falls behind in lane and delays her core item, she lacks the damage to trade and the sustain to survive. A behind Camille contributes very little in teamfights because she cannot dive without dying instantly, and she loses split push duels she would otherwise win
Recommended Runes
Primary — Conqueror (Precision)
- Conqueror — Camille's extended trade pattern with Q1-wait-Q2 and auto attacks stacks Conqueror rapidly, granting scaling AD that amplifies her already powerful true damage on Q2. Once fully stacked, Conqueror also heals Camille for a percentage of damage dealt to champions, giving her the sustained fighting power she needs to win all-ins. Camille's dives with Hextech Ultimatum last long enough to fully stack Conqueror every time.
- Absorb Life — Heals Camille when she damages enemy champions with attacks and abilities. Camille's frequent trading with Q and W procs Absorb Life consistently, providing sustain that helps her survive the early laning phase where she is most vulnerable. The healing compounds with Conqueror's sustain in extended fights.
- Legend: Alacrity — Grants permanent attack speed from takedowns. Camille's Q is an auto attack reset, so faster base attack speed means smoother Q1-auto-Q2 combos and more DPS between ability rotations. The bonus attack speed also stacks with the attack speed buff from Hookshot, making Camille's burst window after engaging even more lethal.
- Last Stand — Deals increased damage when Camille is at low health. Camille often fights at low health during extended duels and tower dives, and her passive shield keeps her alive while Last Stand amplifies her damage. The synergy is especially strong during all-ins where Camille's shield absorbs damage while she's technically low health, letting her deal Last Stand-boosted true damage on Q2.
Secondary — Resolve
- Bone Plating — Reduces damage from the next three attacks or abilities after taking champion damage. Camille's early laning is her weakest phase, and Bone Plating absorbs a significant chunk of the enemy's trade damage during the critical first few seconds. This lets Camille take short trades she would otherwise lose, buying time until she completes Sheen and unlocks her mid-game power.
- Overgrowth — Grants permanent bonus health from nearby minion deaths. The health stacks throughout the game and eventually provides a meaningful health buffer that makes Camille harder to burst down during dives and teamfights. The bonus health also scales the value of her Adaptive Defenses shield, which is based on a percentage of her maximum health.
Recommended Item Build
Based on data from over 15,000 ranked Camille matches tracked on dodge.gg, here's the highest winrate build path.
Early Game (0–10 min)
- Doran's Blade — Standard starting item providing AD, health, and omnivamp on hit. Doran's Blade gives Camille the early stats she needs to farm safely and trade when her passive shield is available. The AD helps her last hit under tower when getting pushed in, and the omnivamp sustains through poke damage in the early levels.
- Long Sword — Early AD on first back that builds directly into Sheen. Getting Long Sword early accelerates Camille's path to Sheen, which is her most important early power spike. The AD also improves her Q trading and W sustain damage, making her laning noticeably stronger.
- Boots — Basic boots improve Camille's ability to space in trades and dodge skillshots in lane. Movement speed is critical for Camille to maintain the spacing needed to walk up for passive-shielded trades and walk away before the enemy can retaliate. Upgraded later based on the enemy team composition.
Core Build (10–20 min)
- Trinity Force — Camille's defining item. Sheen procs amplify Q1 and Q2 damage massively since both are empowered auto attacks that apply the Spellblade bonus damage. Trinity Force's combination of AD, attack speed, ability haste, and health gives Camille everything she needs — damage to duel, speed to combo smoothly, cooldown reduction for more Q rotations, and durability to survive fights. The Threefold Strike passive stacks base AD on consecutive attacks, and Camille's Q-auto-Q pattern stacks it instantly.
- Ravenous Hydra — Provides AD, ability haste, and omnivamp with a passive that cleaves damage to nearby enemies on auto attacks. Ravenous Hydra transforms Camille's split push by giving her instant waveclear — she shoves waves in seconds and then pressures towers or roams. The omnivamp sustains Camille through duels and skirmishes, and the cleave damage adds meaningful AoE to her otherwise single-target kit.
- Plated Steelcaps — Armor boots that reduce incoming auto attack damage. Most Camille lanes are against AD fighters and bruisers, making Steelcaps the default boot choice. The auto attack damage reduction is especially valuable against champions like Jax, Tryndamere, and Irelia who rely on repeated auto attacks to deal damage. Swap to Mercury's Treads against heavy AP or CC-heavy teams.
Late Game (25+ min)
- Sterak's Gage — Grants AD scaling with base AD and a massive shield when Camille takes a burst of damage. Sterak's Gage synergizes perfectly with Camille's kit — the Lifeline shield stacks on top of her Adaptive Defenses passive, giving her two shields in quick succession during fights. The bonus AD also scales Camille's Q damage and Trinity Force procs, making her both more durable and more lethal simultaneously.
- Death's Dance — Converts a portion of physical damage taken into a bleed over time instead of instant damage, and heals Camille for a percentage of her maximum health on champion takedowns. Death's Dance prevents Camille from being burst down during dives and rewards her for getting kills — each takedown cleanses the stored bleed damage and heals her, enabling chain kills in teamfights. The AD and ability haste further amplify her dueling power.
- Guardian Angel — Revives Camille with a portion of health and base AD after dying, with a lengthy cooldown. Guardian Angel gives Camille a safety net for aggressive dives — she can Hookshot into the backline, ult a carry, and even if the enemy collapses on her, she revives and continues fighting. The threat of a Guardian Angel revive also forces enemies to stay near Camille's body instead of turning on her team, buying time for her allies.
Ability Priority
- Hextech Ultimatum (R) — Level at 6, 11, and 16. Each rank increases the bonus magic damage on impact and reduces the cooldown. Higher ranks make Camille's dives more frequent and more damaging. The reduced cooldown is especially important because Hextech Ultimatum is what enables Camille to pick off targets — having it available for every skirmish and teamfight is essential.
- Precision Protocol (Q) — Max first. Each rank increases the bonus damage on both Q1 and Q2, and the true damage conversion on Q2 scales with total AD. Q is Camille's primary trading tool and the majority of her damage output. Higher ranks reduce the cooldown significantly, letting Camille take more frequent trades and cycle through Q rotations faster in all-ins.
- Hookshot (E) — Max second. Each rank reduces the cooldown and increases the stun duration and bonus attack speed. Hookshot's cooldown reduction is critical for Camille's mid-game skirmishing — shorter E cooldown means more engage opportunities, more escape options, and more frequent ganks. The longer stun duration also gives Camille and her team more time to follow up after she lands.
- Tactical Sweep (W) — Max last. W provides a slow, sustain heal, and some poke damage, but one point gives Camille all the utility she needs from this ability. Additional ranks increase the damage and healing, but the values are modest compared to the massive gains from maxing Q and E. W is primarily used as a sustain and setup tool rather than a damage ability.
Playstyle Tips
Laning Phase
Camille's laning phase is about surviving to Sheen and then aggressively trading once her first item spike arrives. Before Sheen, play respectfully — farm with auto attacks, use W to sustain through poke, and only trade when your passive shield is available. Walk up to auto attack a minion near the enemy to proc Adaptive Defenses, absorb their retaliatory trade with the shield, and back off. This pattern costs the enemy health while Camille takes reduced damage.
Once you have Sheen, Camille's trading pattern becomes much stronger. Auto attack a minion to prime your passive, walk up with the shield active, Q1 into auto attack, then wait for Q2 to charge to true damage and land it for a massive chunk. The Sheen proc on Q2 combined with true damage conversion is one of the strongest single-hit trades in top lane. Trade when your passive is up and disengage when it's on cooldown.
Use W to sustain in lane by hitting enemy champions with the outer half of the sweep — the outer half heals Camille and slows the enemy, while the inner half deals reduced damage and does not heal. Position so that you are at max W range from the enemy to ensure you hit the outer half consistently.
Mid Game
Mid-game Camille transitions into a split push threat who forces the enemy team to respond to her side lane pressure while her team contests objectives. With Trinity Force and Ravenous Hydra, Camille shoves waves instantly, takes towers quickly with Sheen-empowered Q hits, and wins most 1v1 duels. Push a side lane and force the enemy to send someone to answer — if they send a champion Camille can beat, fight them. If they send multiple champions, back off with Hookshot over a wall and let your team take the objective on the other side of the map.
In skirmishes, look for Hookshot flanks from fog of war. The ideal engage is E from over a wall into the backline, stunning a carry, and immediately ulting them with Hextech Ultimatum. The ult knocks away nearby enemies and traps your target, giving you a free Q1-auto-Q2 rotation on an isolated squishy. Do not engage from the front where enemies can see Hookshot coming — the ability is much easier to dodge or interrupt when the enemy is watching.
When your team is grouping for Dragon or Baron, Camille can either join the fight or split push the opposite side lane to draw pressure. Communicate with your team — if they can stall at the objective while you take a tower, the trade is often worth it. Camille's map pressure with Teleport makes her a constant split push threat that the enemy cannot ignore.
Late Game
Late-game Camille with four or five items is a lethal diver whose true damage and lockdown make her the single greatest threat to enemy carries in teamfights. Q2 with Trinity Force, Sterak's, and Death's Dance hits squishies for over half their health bar in true damage that cannot be mitigated. Combined with Hextech Ultimatum's isolation and the sustained damage from Conqueror stacking, Camille can 100-to-0 most ADCs and mages within a single ult duration.
In late-game teamfights, wait for your team to engage or for the enemy frontline to commit forward before using Hookshot. Patience is critical — if Camille jumps in too early, the entire enemy team focuses her and she dies before Q2 charges. Wait for cooldowns to be used, then E-R onto the highest priority target. The ult zone protects Camille from being peeled immediately, and Sterak's Gage plus Death's Dance keep her alive through the burst.
If the game is close, continue split pushing. Late-game Camille takes towers in seconds with Trinity Force procs and can 1v1 almost any champion. Force the enemy into a dilemma — send someone to match Camille and fight 4v4, or let her take inhibitors for free. This pressure wins games that teamfighting might not.
Matchups
Favorable
- Gangplank — Camille's Hookshot engage closes the distance instantly, negating Gangplank's barrel zoning and poke-heavy playstyle. Gangplank has no reliable way to escape Hextech Ultimatum, and Camille's passive shield absorbs his Q poke in lane. Once Camille has Sheen, she outtrades Gangplank in every all-in, and his Remove Scurvy only cleanses the slow — it does not free him from the ult zone.
- Ornn — Ornn's short-range trading pattern and telegraphed Bellows Breath are easy for Camille to punish. Camille can Hookshot away from Ornn's ultimate charge and engage on him after he uses his combo. Ornn's tank itemization does nothing against Camille's Q2 true damage, and Camille outscales Ornn in the side lane where she can split push uncontested while Ornn cannot match her.
- Cho'Gath — Cho'Gath's immobility makes him a free target for Hookshot engages, and his Rupture knock-up is easy to dodge with Camille's mobility. Cho'Gath stacks health to survive, but Camille's true damage on Q2 scales with total AD and ignores his resistances entirely. Camille can freeze the wave and zone Cho'Gath off CS, then all-in him with Sheen whenever his cooldowns are down.
Even
- Fiora — A skill matchup between two of the best duelists in the game. Fiora's Riposte can parry Camille's Hookshot stun, turning the engage into a devastating counter-stun. However, Camille's Hextech Ultimatum creates vitals on the ult border that Fiora must hit to proc her passive, and the confined zone can work in either champion's favor. The matchup comes down to Riposte timing and Q2 spacing.
- Riven — Both are mobile, combo-heavy fighters who spike at similar item timings. Riven's shield and dash let her dodge Camille's W outer half and trade back aggressively. However, Camille's passive shield absorbs Riven's burst in short trades, and Q2 true damage ignores Riven's shield. Extended trades favor whoever lands their CC first — Riven's W stun versus Camille's E stun often decides the all-in.
- Irelia — Irelia's sustained DPS with stacked passive can overwhelm Camille in extended auto attack fights, but Camille's true damage and shield give her windows to outtrade. Irelia's Bladesurge resets off minions let her dodge Hookshot and gap-close unpredictably. The lane is decided by wave management — Irelia is strongest with a large minion wave to dash through, while Camille wants short trades near her tower.
Unfavorable
- Jax — Counter Strike blocks Camille's Q auto attacks entirely and stuns her if she stays in range. Jax's dueling kit directly counters Camille's auto attack-reliant damage pattern, and his leap strike matches her Hookshot mobility. Jax outscales Camille in the 1v1 split push and can match her side lane pressure while being harder to kill in teamfights. Camille must avoid extended trades and look for roam plays instead.
- Darius — Darius's early lane dominance with Decimate healing, Crippling Strike slows, and Apprehend pulls punishes Camille's weak pre-Sheen laning. Darius can pull Camille out of Hookshot during the wall-attach animation and force extended trades where his passive bleed stacks overwhelm her shield. If Darius builds an early lead, Camille cannot approach the wave without risking death from his all-in combo into Noxian Guillotine.
- Renekton — Renekton's empowered W stun through Camille's shield, combined with his E double-dash for gap closing and escaping, makes him a nightmare for Camille in the early and mid-game. Renekton dictates the trade timing — he dashes in, stuns, chunks with empowered Q, and dashes out before Camille can respond with her slower Q2 timing. Camille needs to survive until two items where she begins to outscale Renekton's falling late-game damage.
