Best Taliyah Build & Guide (2026) — League of Legends

The definitive Taliyah build guide for 2026. Optimal items, runes, ability order, playstyle tips, and matchup advice backed by data from thousands of ranked League of Legends matches.

Taliyah is League of Legends' Stoneweaver — a burst mage who hurls Threaded Volley's stone shards from Worked Ground for empowered boulder strikes, displaces enemies with Seismic Shove's delayed knockback, lays trap fields with Unraveled Earth's scattering stones that detonate on dashes, and creates massive terrain walls across the map with Weaver's Wall to cut off escapes and split teamfights. She is a ranged mage who builds items like Blackfire Torch and Seraph's Embrace to become a high-damage zone controller with powerful roaming and objective control. Taliyah is played primarily as a jungler (52.31% win rate on LoLalytics Patch 16.6 Emerald+, B Tier ranked 36th of 75 jungle champions) with a 0.79% pick rate, and secondarily as a mid laner (49.02% win rate, C- Tier ranked 79th of 93 mid lane champions) with a 1.55% pick rate. Whether you want to burst enemies with empowered boulders from Worked Ground, set up devastating W-E combos to punish dashes, or split the map with Weaver's Wall for game-changing roams and picks, this guide covers everything you need to master the Stoneweaver in 2026.

Taliyah Overview

Taliyah operates as a burst mage and zone controller whose power comes from Threaded Volley's rapid stone shard barrage that transforms into an empowered boulder on Worked Ground for massive single-target burst and AoE slow, Seismic Shove's delayed knockback that displaces enemies into Unraveled Earth's detonating stone field for burst combos and crowd control, Unraveled Earth's scattered stones that create a zone of denial by detonating on any enemy that dashes or is knocked through them for stun and heavy damage, and Weaver's Wall's map-spanning terrain creation that enables roams, cuts off retreats, and isolates targets for picks. She is played as a jungler (52.31% win rate on LoLalytics Emerald+, B Tier ranked 36th out of 75 jungle champions) with a 0.79% pick rate and as a mid laner (49.02% win rate, C- Tier ranked 79th of 93 mid lane champions) with a 1.55% pick rate.

Unlike traditional burst mages who rely on landing a single skillshot combo, Taliyah provides sustained zone control through Unraveled Earth's 22 scattered stones that create a 4-second field of denial punishing any dash or displacement with detonation damage and a 0.75-second stun, powerful burst damage through Threaded Volley's empowered boulder on Worked Ground that deals 180% damage to the primary target with a slow, flexible displacement through Seismic Shove's delayed knockback that can push enemies into walls for extended crowd control or through Unraveled Earth for detonation combos, and unmatched map mobility through Rock Surfing's passive movement speed near terrain combined with Weaver's Wall's ability to create 2500-6500 range terrain for cross-map roams. Taliyah wins by controlling zones with Unraveled Earth, displacing enemies through the stone field with Seismic Shove for burst combos, and using Weaver's Wall to create picks and objective advantages that no other mage can replicate.

Rock Surfing (Passive) grants Taliyah bonus movement speed when she is near terrain, building up over 1 second to 10/15/25/40% bonus movement speed based on level. The movement speed bonus decays over 3 seconds when she moves away from terrain. Rock Surfing has a 2-second static cooldown and cannot activate for a few seconds after casting an ability or entering champion combat. Rock Surfing defines Taliyah's roaming identity — the bonus movement speed near terrain makes her one of the fastest champions when traversing the jungle or moving along river walls, enabling rotations between lanes and objectives that slower mages cannot match. In the jungle role, Rock Surfing is constantly active while clearing camps near terrain, providing smooth pathing between camps.

Threaded Volley (Q) has a 7/6/5/4/3-second cooldown and costs 55/60/65/70/75 mana normally or 10 mana on Worked Ground. Taliyah hurls 5 stone shards over 1.5 seconds at a target area within 1000 range, each dealing 50/67.5/85/102.5/120 (+50% AP) magic damage to the first enemy hit and shattering in an AoE. Subsequent shards hitting the same target deal reduced damage of 20/27/34/41/48 (+20% AP), for a maximum total damage of 130/175.5/221/266.5/312 (+130% AP) against a single target. Casting Threaded Volley creates Worked Ground at the cast location with a 400-unit radius lasting 30 seconds. When cast on Worked Ground, the ground is consumed and Taliyah instead launches a single empowered boulder that deals 90/121.5/153/184.5/216 (+90% AP) magic damage to the primary target (180% of base shard damage) and 50/67.5/85/102.5/120 (+50% AP) to secondary targets, slowing enemies hit by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds, with 50% reduced cooldown. Threaded Volley also deals 23/28/33/38/43 bonus damage per shard to monsters. Threaded Volley is Taliyah's primary damage ability — managing Worked Ground is essential to her playstyle, as the empowered boulder provides significantly more burst damage and utility with its slow at a fraction of the mana cost, while the normal 5-shard cast provides sustained DPS and creates Worked Ground for future empowered casts.

Seismic Shove (W) has a 14/12.5/11/9.5/8-second cooldown and costs 40/30/20/10/0 mana. Taliyah creates a ledge at a target location within 900 range that erupts after a 0.792-second delay, knocking enemies within 225 units 400 units in the chosen direction over 1 second. Seismic Shove is Taliyah's key setup ability — the directional knockback allows her to push enemies through Unraveled Earth's stone field to detonate stones for burst damage and a 0.75-second stun, push enemies into walls for extended displacement crowd control, or peel enemies away from allies. The 0.792-second delay makes it a prediction-based skill that rewards game knowledge and anticipation of enemy movement.

Unraveled Earth (E) has a 14-second cooldown at all ranks and costs 90 mana. Taliyah scatters 22 stones in a target direction within 800 range in an 80-degree cone, dealing 60/105/150/195/240 (+60% AP) magic damage to enemies on eruption. The stones remain for 4 seconds and slow enemies standing on them by 20%. If an enemy champion dashes over or is knocked through the stones, up to 4 stones detonate dealing 25/40/55/70/85 (+30% AP) magic damage each and stunning the enemy for 0.75 seconds (2 seconds on monsters), with damage reduction scaling from 0-75% based on the number of stones detonated, for a maximum total detonation damage of 62.5/100/137.5/175/212.5 (+75% AP). Unraveled Earth deals 225% damage to monsters. Unraveled Earth is Taliyah's zone control and anti-dash ability — the scattered stone field punishes any champion that dashes through it with detonation damage and a stun, and when combined with Seismic Shove to knock enemies through the field, it creates a devastating burst combo that provides both heavy damage and crowd control.

Weaver's Wall (R) has a 180/150/120-second cooldown and costs 100 mana. Taliyah summons a spiraling rock torrent in a target direction that travels up to 2500/4500/6500 range, knocking aside champions hit and creating a terrain wall that lasts 4 seconds after fully forming. Taliyah channels for 1 second before the wall begins forming, and she can recast to surf the wall at 1200 speed or destroy it once fully formed. The wall has a 3-second static cooldown on creation if Taliyah takes champion or turret damage. Weaver's Wall is Taliyah's signature ability and the reason she has unmatched roaming and pick potential — the massive terrain wall can cut off escape routes during ganks, split enemy teams during objectives, block jungle paths to control rotations, and provide Taliyah with a high-speed ride across the map for cross-map roams that arrive faster than any other champion.

Strengths

  • Threaded Volley's empowered boulder on Worked Ground deals 180% of base shard damage as a single burst hit with a 20-40% slow at only 10 mana cost and 50% reduced cooldown, providing Taliyah with reliable poke, waveclear, and trading damage that becomes increasingly available as she creates more Worked Ground throughout the lane and jungle — the 3-second cooldown at max rank on Worked Ground means she can repeatedly throw empowered boulders every 1.5 seconds for devastating sustained burst — This Worked Ground management mechanic rewards skilled players who position their casts to create optimal Worked Ground patterns for future empowered boulders
  • Unraveled Earth's 22 scattered stones create a 4-second anti-dash zone that punishes any enemy who dashes through with up to 62.5-212.5 (+75% AP) detonation damage and a 0.75-second stun — when combined with Seismic Shove to force enemies through the stone field, the W-E combo delivers burst damage exceeding 300-450 (+135% AP) plus crowd control that no other mage can replicate as a basic ability combo — This anti-dash zone control is particularly devastating against mobile champions like Yasuo, Irelia, and Akali who rely on dashing through fights
  • Weaver's Wall creates terrain up to 6500 range at rank 3, providing map-spanning roaming potential, objective control through terrain denial, and pick potential by cutting off enemy escape routes — no other ability in the game creates terrain of comparable size, making Taliyah's roaming and objective setup unmatched among mages — The ability to surf the wall at 1200 speed enables cross-map plays that arrive before enemies can react
  • Rock Surfing's passive movement speed near terrain provides 10-40% bonus movement speed that is constantly active in the jungle and river, making Taliyah one of the fastest champions for jungle clearing, lane rotations, and objective races — this inherent mobility advantage compounds with her Weaver's Wall to create a roaming-focused playstyle that no other mage can sustain — In the jungle role, Rock Surfing's near-permanent uptime accelerates clear speed and gank timing

Weaknesses

  • Seismic Shove's 0.792-second delay before eruption makes it one of the most telegraphed displacement abilities in the game — against players with quick reaction times or high-mobility champions who can dash during the delay, the W-E combo becomes unreliable and Taliyah loses her primary burst combo setup — Her 38.3% win rate against Zed in mid lane highlights how assassins who can dodge Seismic Shove negate her entire combo
  • Threaded Volley's Worked Ground mechanic creates zones where Taliyah's Q deals reduced damage (only the empowered boulder) and has limited versatility — in extended lane fights or when pushed into unfavorable positions, Taliyah can find herself standing on Worked Ground without the option to cast the full 5-shard volley, limiting her sustained DPS — Managing Worked Ground positioning is a constant cognitive burden that punishes players who cast Q without thinking about where the Worked Ground will be placed
  • Taliyah has no built-in defensive mobility or survivability beyond Seismic Shove's self-peel and Rock Surfing's passive movement speed, making her extremely vulnerable to assassins and divers who reach melee range — unlike mages with shields, dashes, or untargetability, Taliyah must rely entirely on positioning and hitting Seismic Shove to survive being engaged on — Her low win rates against Katarina (41.58%), LeBlanc (42.3%), and Veigar (40.1%) demonstrate how burst and all-in champions exploit her lack of defensive tools
  • Weaver's Wall's 1-second channel and 3-second cooldown on creation after taking champion or turret damage means Taliyah cannot use her ultimate reactively in fights — it must be used proactively for roams and picks before combat begins, and any champion damage cancels the wall's creation window, making it a non-factor in most direct teamfight engagements — The long 180/150/120 second cooldown means a wasted or interrupted Weaver's Wall leaves Taliyah without her primary map-control tool for several minutes

Recommended Runes

Jungle: Dark Harvest (Domination) — Most Popular

The recommended rune page for Taliyah jungle is Dark Harvest in the Domination tree. Dark Harvest synergizes with Taliyah's burst pattern — her W-E combo followed by empowered Q chunks enemies below the Soul threshold, and the stacking damage grows stronger with each takedown as she ganks across the map.

  • Dark Harvest — Deals bonus adaptive damage when hitting champions below 50% health, collecting a Soul on champion takedowns that permanently increases the damage. Dark Harvest is the optimal keystone for Taliyah jungle because her burst combo of Seismic Shove into Unraveled Earth into Threaded Volley frequently chunks enemies below the 50% threshold during ganks, and her roaming playstyle with Weaver's Wall enables her to collect Souls across the map more efficiently than most junglers.
  • Cheap Shot — Deals bonus true damage to enemies with impaired movement. Cheap Shot procs on every Seismic Shove knockback, every Unraveled Earth stone detonation stun, and every empowered Threaded Volley boulder slow — since Taliyah's standard combo applies crowd control before her main damage, Cheap Shot adds reliable bonus damage to every trade and gank.
  • Grisly Mementos — Grants bonus attack damage and ability power on champion takedowns. Grisly Mementos provides scaling AP that compounds with Dark Harvest Souls throughout the game — as Taliyah ganks and secures kills across the map, the stacking AP amplifies her burst damage progressively.
  • Treasure Hunter — Grants bonus gold on unique champion takedowns. Treasure Hunter accelerates Taliyah's item spikes — the bonus gold from ganking unique champions across the map helps her reach Blackfire Torch and Sorcerer's Shoes faster, which are critical for her damage output during the mid game.

Secondary — Inspiration

  • Magical Footwear — Grants free Slightly Magical Boots at 12 minutes (reduced by takedowns). Magical Footwear saves 300 gold that can be redirected toward Taliyah's first AP item, and the enhanced boots provide additional movement speed that stacks with Rock Surfing for even faster jungle traversal and roaming.
  • Cosmic Insight — Grants bonus summoner spell haste and item haste. Cosmic Insight reduces Flash's cooldown for more frequent Flash-W engages and provides item haste for faster Zhonya's Hourglass activations in teamfights — both of which are critical for a squishy mage who relies on precise cooldown management.

Mid Lane: Phase Rush (Sorcery) — Most Popular

The recommended rune page for Taliyah mid is Phase Rush in the Sorcery tree. Phase Rush provides the burst of movement speed Taliyah needs to disengage after landing her combo in lane trades, compensating for her lack of built-in mobility.

  • Phase Rush — Grants a burst of movement speed after hitting an enemy champion with 3 separate attacks or abilities within 4 seconds. Phase Rush is optimal for Taliyah mid because her Q-W-E combo naturally proc it with three separate damage instances, and the movement speed burst allows her to reposition after trading, chase down enemies after landing Seismic Shove, or escape ganks more reliably.
  • Manaflow Band — Grants permanent bonus mana and mana regeneration after hitting champions with abilities. Manaflow Band addresses Taliyah's mana hunger in lane — Threaded Volley costs 55-75 mana per cast (non-Worked Ground), and the permanent mana pool increase ensures she can sustain through the laning phase without running dry.
  • Transcendence — Grants ability haste at levels 5 and 8, and reduces remaining basic ability cooldowns on champion takedowns at level 11. Transcendence provides the ability haste Taliyah needs to reduce Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth's 14-second base cooldowns, and the cooldown reset on takedowns allows her to chain W-E combos in teamfights after securing kills.
  • Scorch — Deals bonus magic damage over time after hitting an enemy champion with an ability. Scorch adds consistent poke damage to Taliyah's Threaded Volley harass in lane — the bonus burn damage on each empowered boulder from Worked Ground accumulates over repeated trades to whittle enemies into kill range.

Secondary — Precision

  • Presence of Mind — Restores mana on champion damage and takedowns. Presence of Mind addresses Taliyah's mana issues during extended laning and skirmishes — her combo sequence costs significant mana (Q 55-75 + W 40 + E 90 = 185-205 mana), and the mana restoration on damage helps sustain through fights.
  • Legend: Haste — Grants ability haste that increases with champion takedowns. Legend: Haste provides scaling cooldown reduction that benefits Taliyah's key combo abilities — reducing Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth's long base cooldowns is critical for having her burst combo available more frequently in skirmishes and teamfights.

Stat Shards

  • Adaptive Force (AP) — Bonus AP increases all of Taliyah's ability ratios, amplifying Threaded Volley's 50% AP per shard, Seismic Shove's displacement setup, Unraveled Earth's 60% AP initial damage and 30% AP per detonation, and empowered boulder's 90% AP ratio.
  • Adaptive Force (AP) / Ability Haste — Second shard choice depends on role. Mid lane takes a second Adaptive Force for stronger early trades, while jungle takes Ability Haste for faster ability rotations during clears.
  • Health Scaling — Bonus health scaling provides increasing durability throughout the game, helping Taliyah survive burst from assassins and divers during the mid and late game where a single combo can kill her without defensive stats.

Recommended Item Build

Based on data from ranked Taliyah matches tracked across multiple stat sites on Patch 16.6, the Blackfire Torch into Sorcerer's Shoes build has the highest win rates for jungle, while Seraph's Embrace into Rylai's Crystal Scepter is strongest for mid lane. Here are the optimal build paths.

Standard Build (Jungle)

#### Early Game (0-10 min)

  • Scorchclaw Pup — Grants ability power and burn damage on abilities, with empowered clears and ganks. Scorchclaw Pup is the standard jungle starting pet for Taliyah because the burn damage amplifies her AOE clear with Threaded Volley and Unraveled Earth, and the empowered gank passive adds a slow that helps her land Seismic Shove on approaching enemies.
  • Health Potions — Provide sustain during early jungle clears where Taliyah takes damage from camps before establishing Worked Ground patterns for efficient kiting.

#### Core Build (10-20 min)

  • Blackfire Torch — Grants ability power, health, mana, and ability haste, with a passive that deals bonus burn damage based on enemy max health. Blackfire Torch is Taliyah's ideal first completed item in the jungle because the max health burn damage amplifies her combo damage against all targets, the mana sustain addresses her high mana costs during extended clearing, and the ability haste reduces Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth's long 14-second base cooldowns for more frequent combo rotations.
  • Sorcerer's Shoes — Grants movement speed and magic penetration. Sorcerer's Shoes are the optimal boots for Taliyah jungle (57.14% WR) because the flat magic penetration dramatically increases her burst damage against targets who haven't built magic resistance — the penetration amplifies her entire W-E-Q combo for stronger ganks and skirmishes during the mid game when she has the most map impact.
  • Shadowflame — Grants ability power and magic penetration. Shadowflame (53.3% WR in core build) provides a massive spike in burst damage through its AP and magic penetration — combined with Sorcerer's Shoes, the flat penetration makes Taliyah's combo nearly true damage against squishy carries, which is critical for her role as a burst mage who needs to eliminate priority targets quickly.

#### Late Game (25+ min)

  • Zhonya's Hourglass — Grants ability power, armor, and ability haste, with an active that makes Taliyah invulnerable for 2.5 seconds. Zhonya's Hourglass provides essential survivability for Taliyah in teamfights — after committing her W-E-Q combo, she can Zhonya's to buy time for cooldowns to come back while avoiding retaliation from enemies she didn't kill, and the armor helps against AD assassins and ADCs.
  • Rabadon's Deathcap — Grants massive ability power and a passive that increases total AP by 35%. Rabadon's Deathcap (59.39% WR) is Taliyah's strongest late-game damage multiplier — the 35% total AP increase amplifies every ratio in her kit, turning empowered boulders and W-E combos into one-shot potential against squishy targets.
  • Void Staff — Grants ability power and 40% magic penetration. Void Staff (60.63% WR) is essential against teams building magic resistance — the percentage penetration combined with Sorcerer's Shoes and Shadowflame's flat penetration ensures Taliyah's damage remains relevant even against tanky frontliners stacking MR items.

Standard Build (Mid Lane)

#### Early Game (0-10 min)

  • Doran's Ring — Grants ability power, health, and mana regeneration on minion kills. Doran's Ring is the standard starting item for Taliyah mid (94.26% pick rate, 48.64% WR) because the AP amplifies early Threaded Volley damage, the health provides survivability against enemy burst, and the mana regeneration on minion last-hits sustains her through the mana-intensive laning phase.
  • Health Potions — Provide sustain during laning trades where Taliyah absorbs poke damage while positioning for Seismic Shove engages.

#### Core Build (10-20 min)

  • Seraph's Embrace — Grants ability power, mana, ability haste, and a passive that heals based on mana spent. Seraph's Embrace (built from Archangel's Staff) is Taliyah's ideal first completed item in mid because the massive mana pool completely eliminates her mana issues, the AP scales with bonus mana for increasing damage, and the healing passive provides sustain that compensates for her lack of defensive abilities.
  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity — Grants movement speed and ability haste. Ionian Boots of Lucidity (52.73% pick rate, 48.85% WR) provide the ability haste Taliyah needs to reduce her long combo cooldowns — the summoner spell haste also reduces Flash's cooldown for more frequent Flash-W engages.
  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter — Grants ability power and health, with a passive that slows enemies hit by abilities. Rylai's Crystal Scepter transforms Taliyah's kit by adding a slow to every Threaded Volley shard, making it significantly easier to land Seismic Shove on slowed targets — the health also provides much-needed durability for a mage with no defensive mobility.

#### Late Game (25+ min)

  • Liandry's Torment — Grants ability power, health, and a passive that deals bonus burn damage based on enemy max health. Liandry's Torment synergizes with Rylai's Crystal Scepter — slowed enemies take extended burn damage, and the max health burn amplifies Taliyah's damage against tanks and frontliners who stand in her Unraveled Earth zones.
  • Rabadon's Deathcap — Grants massive ability power and a passive that increases total AP by 35%. Rabadon's Deathcap (57.73% WR in mid) provides the AP multiplier that transforms Taliyah's late-game burst — with Seraph's Embrace's mana-to-AP conversion and Rabadon's 35% bonus, her empowered boulders and W-E combos reach devastating damage levels.
  • Zhonya's Hourglass — Grants ability power, armor, and ability haste, with an active that provides 2.5 seconds of invulnerability. Zhonya's Hourglass gives Taliyah a critical defensive option against dive and burst compositions — the stasis allows her to survive after being engaged on while her team collapses, and the armor reduces physical damage from AD assassins and ADCs.

Highest Win Rate 3-Item Combinations

The highest win rate jungle build is Blackfire Torch + Sorcerer's Shoes + Shadowflame (53.3% WR), which provides the optimal balance of raw burst damage through stacked magic penetration and AP, burn damage through Blackfire Torch's max health passive, and ability haste for frequent combo rotations. This build maximizes Taliyah's identity as a burst assassin-mage who eliminates priority targets before they can react. For mid lane, the highest win rate build is Seraph's Embrace + Rylai's Crystal Scepter + Liandry's Torment (52.17% WR), which provides sustained damage, crowd control, and mana sustain for extended teamfights.

Ability Priority

Both Roles: Q > E > W (R at 6, 11, 16)

  1. Threaded Volley (Q) — Max first. Each rank increases base shard damage from 50 to 120 (+50% AP), empowered boulder damage from 90 to 216 (+90% AP), reduces cooldown from 7 to 3 seconds, and increases monster bonus damage from 23 to 43. Q max provides the largest damage increase per rank along with significant cooldown reduction — since Threaded Volley is Taliyah's primary damage, waveclear, and jungle clear ability that she casts constantly for both the 5-shard volley and empowered boulder, maximizing its damage and cooldown first has the greatest impact on her clear speed and kill potential.
  2. Unraveled Earth (E) — Max second. Each rank increases initial eruption damage from 60 to 240 (+60% AP) and per-stone detonation damage from 25 to 85 (+30% AP), while the cooldown remains fixed at 14 seconds at all ranks and mana cost stays at 90. E max second provides the largest damage increase for Taliyah's W-E burst combo — the combined eruption plus detonation damage scaling makes each combo significantly more lethal at higher ranks, and since E's damage is reliable when set up by Seismic Shove, the increased base damage translates directly into more kills.
  3. Seismic Shove (W) — Max last. Each rank reduces cooldown from 14 to 8 seconds and reduces mana cost from 40 to 0, while providing no damage increase. W is maxed last because it deals no damage — the ability is purely a displacement tool whose value comes from the knockback direction and combo setup with Unraveled Earth, and while the cooldown reduction from 14 to 8 seconds is valuable, Q and E's damage scaling provides more immediate power.
  4. Weaver's Wall (R) — Level at 6, 11, and 16. Each rank increases wall range from 2500 to 6500, reduces cooldown from 180 to 120 seconds, and maintains 100 mana cost. Level 6 Weaver's Wall provides an immediate power spike for roaming — the 2500-range wall enables Taliyah to cut off escape routes during ganks and create cross-map roaming plays. Rank 2's 4500 range and rank 3's 6500 range dramatically expand the wall's map coverage for game-changing plays.

Level-by-level order: Q, E, W, Q, Q, R, Q, E, Q, E, R, E, E, W, W, R, W, W.

Summoner Spells

Jungle

  • Flash — Flash is essential on Taliyah for Flash-W engages that catch enemies with an unavoidable Seismic Shove at unexpected range, Flash-E to place Unraveled Earth behind fleeing enemies, and escaping situations where Rock Surfing's passive movement speed is not enough to survive. Flash is non-negotiable on Taliyah since Seismic Shove's 0.792-second delay makes landing W without setup inconsistent, and Flash provides the instant repositioning to guarantee combo hits. Taken in every game.
  • Smite — Required for jungle role. Smite secures objectives and enables jungle item completion. Taken in every jungle game.

Mid Lane

  • Flash — Essential for the same reasons as jungle — Flash-W engages, repositioning, and survival. Taken in every game.
  • Teleport — Teleport is the most popular secondary spell for Taliyah mid (54.78% pick rate), enabling her to match side lane pressure, rejoin fights after pushing waves, and maintain map presence. Teleport complements Weaver's Wall's roaming identity by allowing Taliyah to impact the map through both TP flanks and wall-assisted roams.
  • Ignite — Ignite is the highest win rate secondary spell for Taliyah mid (53.01% WR) for players who prioritize lane kill pressure. The extra burst from Ignite can secure kills during the W-E-Q combo that would otherwise leave enemies alive at low health. Best taken against matchups where Taliyah can kill in lane.

Playstyle Tips

Early Game / Laning Phase (0-14 min)

Taliyah's early game varies significantly between jungle and mid lane. In the jungle, her focus is on efficient clearing with Threaded Volley and Unraveled Earth, creating Worked Ground patterns around camps for future empowered boulder casts, and looking for ganks with Seismic Shove into Unraveled Earth combos.

Jungle start: Begin with Threaded Volley (Q) at level 1 for AOE damage across multiple camp monsters. Take Unraveled Earth (E) at level 2 for additional AOE clear and the anti-dash zone. Take Seismic Shove (W) at level 3 to unlock the full W-E combo for ganks. Clear camps by casting Q first to create Worked Ground, then kiting monsters through Unraveled Earth's stone field. The bonus monster damage on Q (23-43 per shard) and E (225% monster damage) ensures healthy, fast clears.

Ganking: The standard gank combo is approach from fog of war → E (scatter stones behind the enemy) → W (knock enemy back through the stones) → Q (follow up with empowered boulder from Worked Ground or full volley). The key to landing Seismic Shove is forcing the enemy to commit to a direction with Unraveled Earth placement — enemies who dash through the stones are stunned for 0.75 seconds, and enemies who don't dash are knocked through them by Seismic Shove for the same result. At level 6, Weaver's Wall transforms ganks by allowing Taliyah to approach from impossible angles or cut off the enemy's escape route before initiating.

Mid lane start: Begin with Threaded Volley (Q) at level 1 for ranged farming and poke. Use Q to create Worked Ground strategically — place Worked Ground near the edges of the lane where you'll stand for future empowered boulder poke. Take E at level 2 for waveclear assistance and anti-dash zoning. Take W at level 3 for the full combo. In lane, trade by throwing empowered boulders from Worked Ground to slow enemies, then follow up with W-E if they're slowed and in range. Avoid casting Q in positions where the Worked Ground will be inconvenient for future trading.

Mid Game & Teamfights (14-25 min)

Mid-game Taliyah with her core items completed is a high-damage burst mage who controls zones with Unraveled Earth, sets up picks with Seismic Shove, and dominates the map with Weaver's Wall roams and objective control.

Taliyah's mid-game strategy revolves around pushing waves with Threaded Volley, roaming with Rock Surfing's passive movement speed and Weaver's Wall to impact side lanes and objective fights, and looking for picks with the W-E-Q combo on isolated targets. Before major fights around Dragon or Rift Herald, use Weaver's Wall to cut off the enemy team's approach path or split their team — a well-placed wall that separates the enemy frontline from their backline wins fights before they begin.

In teamfights, Taliyah should position behind her frontline and look for opportunities to land Seismic Shove on priority targets. The standard teamfight combo is E (place stones behind the enemy carry) → W (knock them back through the stones for stun and detonation damage) → Q (follow up with empowered boulder or full volley for burst). If Taliyah cannot safely approach for a W-E combo, she should poke with empowered boulders from Worked Ground, using the 20-40% slow to set up future combos. Never use Seismic Shove predictively against enemies who have dashes available — wait for them to use their mobility before committing the W-E combo.

Late Game (25+ min)

Late-game Taliyah with Rabadon's Deathcap is a devastating burst mage whose W-E-Q combo can one-shot squishy carries, whose Unraveled Earth creates zones that deny entire areas from the enemy team, and whose Weaver's Wall provides game-deciding picks and objective control.

In the late game, Taliyah's burst damage with full items is lethal — a single W-E-Q combo with Dark Harvest proc can eliminate any squishy champion from full health. The key to late-game success is patience and positioning. Wait for enemies to use their key mobility abilities or crowd control before committing Seismic Shove, and always have Zhonya's Hourglass available as insurance against retaliation after committing a combo.

Around Baron and Elder Dragon, Weaver's Wall becomes Taliyah's most impactful ability. A wall placed to cut off the enemy team's access to the objective pit can secure free objective takes, while a wall that splits the enemy team during a fight creates a numbers advantage that wins teamfights. The wall's 4-second duration is enough to force fights, take objectives, or disengage from unfavorable situations.

Unraveled Earth's zone control becomes increasingly powerful in the late game as objectives funnel fights into narrow areas around Baron and Dragon pits. Placing E across the pit entrance creates a 4-second zone that punishes any enemy who tries to contest — dashing through the stones results in a stun and burst damage that can be immediately followed up by the team.

Matchups

Mid Lane

#### Favorable

  • Azir — Taliyah wins against Azir (~53.06% WR). Azir's reliance on soldier positioning and his relatively slow attack pattern gives Taliyah windows to land Seismic Shove during his soldier commands. Azir's Shifting Sands dash through Unraveled Earth detonates stones for burst and a stun, punishing his primary engage tool. Taliyah can match Azir's waveclear with Threaded Volley and outroam him with Weaver's Wall.
  • Yasuo — Taliyah wins against Yasuo (~53.50% WR). Yasuo's dash-heavy playstyle through minions directly triggers Unraveled Earth's stone detonations — every Sweeping Blade dash through the stone field deals burst damage and stuns him. Seismic Shove can knock Yasuo through the stone field during his predictable dash patterns, and Wind Wall cannot block Seismic Shove's ground eruption or Unraveled Earth's stone scatter.
  • Galio — Taliyah wins against Galio (~53.22% WR). Galio's melee range and reliance on Hero's Entrance channel makes him vulnerable to Seismic Shove interrupts and Unraveled Earth zone denial. Taliyah can poke Galio from range with empowered boulders while he struggles to reach her, and Weaver's Wall can block his roaming paths to match his semi-global ultimate.

#### Even

  • Orianna — Taliyah fights approximately even against Orianna (~53.02% WR, leaning slightly favorable). Both champions are zone-control mages who fight for lane priority — Taliyah's Threaded Volley matches Orianna's Command: Attack poke, and both scale well into teamfights. The matchup depends on who lands their displacement first — Seismic Shove or Command: Shockwave.
  • Syndra — Taliyah fights approximately even against Syndra (~48% WR). Syndra's burst from Unleashed Power can one-shot Taliyah if she's caught without Zhonya's, but Taliyah's superior roaming with Weaver's Wall allows her to generate advantages elsewhere on the map. The lane is skill-dependent — whoever lands their CC combo first wins trades.

#### Unfavorable

  • Zed — Taliyah loses to Zed (~38.3% WR). Zed's Living Shadow provides a blink that dodges Seismic Shove's delayed eruption, his Death Mark makes him untargetable during the dash, and his burst damage exceeds what Taliyah can survive without Zhonya's Hourglass. Zed can consistently dodge Taliyah's combo and all-in her during her long cooldown windows.
  • Veigar — Taliyah loses to Veigar (~40.1% WR). Veigar's Event Horizon cage traps Taliyah in a zone where she cannot dodge his burst combo, and his infinitely scaling AP means his damage eventually overwhelms any defensive itemization. Taliyah cannot roam aggressively against Veigar because he farms safely and scales into a late-game one-shot threat.
  • Xerath — Taliyah loses to Xerath (~42.79% WR). Xerath's extreme range allows him to poke Taliyah from outside Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth range, preventing her from landing her combo. His Shocking Orb stun stops Taliyah's approach, and his Rite of the Arcane ultimate matches her roaming by providing cross-map damage without leaving lane.

Jungle

#### Favorable

  • Vi — Taliyah wins against Vi (~59.83% WR). Vi's Vault Breaker and Assault and Battery dashes both trigger Unraveled Earth's stone detonations, punishing her primary engage tools with burst damage and stuns. Taliyah can kite Vi from range with Threaded Volley and use Seismic Shove to knock her away when she closes the gap.
  • Viego — Taliyah wins against Viego (~56.93% WR). Viego's melee range and reliance on Harrowed Path's dash to engage makes him vulnerable to Unraveled Earth's anti-dash zone. Taliyah outclears Viego with her AOE abilities and outganks him with Weaver's Wall's cross-map roaming potential.
  • Nidalee — Taliyah wins against Nidalee (~57.94% WR). Nidalee's Pounce dash triggers Unraveled Earth detonations, and her squishy nature means Taliyah's W-E-Q combo can one-shot her during jungle invades and skirmishes. Taliyah's AOE clear is also more consistent than Nidalee's single-target focused kit.

#### Unfavorable

  • Dr. Mundo — Taliyah loses to Dr. Mundo (~44.53% WR). Dr. Mundo's massive health regeneration and magic resistance stacking nullify Taliyah's burst damage — even a full W-E-Q combo cannot kill him through his ultimate healing, and his sustained damage with Infected Bonesaw poke and Blunt Force Trauma auto attacks eventually overwhelms her.
  • Master Yi — Taliyah loses to Master Yi (~44.00% WR). Master Yi's Alpha Strike makes him untargetable to avoid Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth detonations, his Highlander prevents slows from empowered boulders, and his sustained DPS in melee range kills Taliyah faster than she can burst him. Master Yi's ability to dodge her entire combo makes the matchup extremely difficult.
  • Rek'Sai — Taliyah loses to Rek'Sai (~46.09% WR). Rek'Sai's Tunnel engage and Void Rush point-and-click dive reach Taliyah before she can set up her W-E combo, and Rek'Sai's early game dueling power overwhelms Taliyah in jungle skirmishes. Rek'Sai's tremor sense also reveals Taliyah's position through fog of war, negating her surprise roaming potential.

Recent Patch Changes

Taliyah's current state in Patch 16.6 reflects a zone-control burst mage with a clear split identity — she thrives as a jungler (52.31% win rate, B Tier ranked 36th of 75 jungle champions) where Rock Surfing's terrain movement speed accelerates clearing, Weaver's Wall enables cross-map ganks, and her AOE abilities provide healthy clears, while her mid lane performance is weaker (49.02% win rate, C- Tier ranked 79th of 93 mid champions) due to her vulnerability to assassins and difficulty landing Seismic Shove against skilled opponents.

Her kit's strength lies in the combination of Rock Surfing's 10-40% passive movement speed near terrain that makes her one of the fastest champions in the jungle and river, Threaded Volley's dual-mode damage with 5-shard sustained DPS or empowered boulder burst from Worked Ground for only 10 mana, Seismic Shove's directional knockback that forces enemies through Unraveled Earth's stone field for devastating burst combos and 0.75-second stuns, Unraveled Earth's 22 scattered stones creating a 4-second anti-dash zone that punishes mobile champions with detonation damage and crowd control, and Weaver's Wall's 2500-6500 range terrain creation for unmatched roaming and pick potential — making her particularly strong in the jungle where Rock Surfing and Weaver's Wall enable a roaming-heavy playstyle that impacts the entire map. The statistically dominant Blackfire Torch into Sorcerer's Shoes into Shadowflame jungle build path provides the perfect blend of burst damage through stacked magic penetration and AP, sustained damage through Blackfire Torch's max health burn, and ability haste for frequent combo rotations that unlock Taliyah's full potential as a map-controlling burst mage jungler in League of Legends.
