Best Taric Build & Guide (2026) — League of Legends

The definitive Taric build guide for 2026. Optimal items, runes, ability order, playstyle tips, and matchup advice backed by data from thousands of ranked League of Legends matches.

Taric is League of Legends' Shield of Valoran — a melee enchanter-tank support who heals allies in bursts with Starlight's Touch charges generated by weaving empowered Bravado auto attacks, links to a partner with Bastion to mirror every ability from two positions simultaneously, stuns enemies with Dazzle's delayed beam that fires from both himself and his tethered ally for unavoidable crowd control angles, and grants his entire team 2.5 seconds of invulnerability with Cosmic Radiance's game-changing ultimate. He is a melee support who builds tank and enchanter items like Locket of the Iron Solari and Knight's Vow to become an unkillable protector whose armor scaling amplifies every aspect of his kit. Taric is played as a support (52.1% win rate on Patch 16.6 Emerald+, A Tier ranked approximately 14th of 45 support champions) with a 1.3% pick rate and a 0.2% ban rate. Whether you want to protect a hypercarry ADC with heals, stuns, and invulnerability, turn teamfights with perfectly timed Cosmic Radiance, or become an armor-stacking wall that enemies cannot burst through, this guide covers everything you need to master the Shield of Valoran in 2026.

Taric Overview

Taric operates as a melee enchanter-tank support whose power comes from Bravado's empowered auto attacks that grant bonus magic damage scaling with armor and reduce all basic ability cooldowns by 1-2 seconds per hit, Starlight's Touch's charge-based burst healing that restores health to Taric and all nearby allies scaled by maximum health, Bastion's ability to link with an ally and mirror every ability cast from the linked ally's position for double coverage on stuns and heals, Dazzle's delayed beam stun that fires from both Taric and his Bastion-linked ally creating unavoidable crowd control geometry, and Cosmic Radiance's 2.5-second team-wide invulnerability that can completely negate enemy burst windows and tower dives. He is played as a support (52.1% win rate on Patch 16.6 Emerald+, A Tier ranked approximately 14th of 45 support champions) with a 1.3% pick rate.

Unlike traditional enchanters who stay behind their carries, Taric provides massive sustained healing through Starlight's Touch charges that are generated by Bravado empowered auto attacks — each ability cast empowers his next two basic attacks with 100% bonus attack speed and 25-101 (+15% bonus armor) bonus magic damage that also reduce all basic ability cooldowns by 1-2 seconds, creating a rhythm of casting abilities then auto-attacking twice to generate Q charges and cycle cooldowns faster; unmatched crowd control geometry through Bastion's ability link that mirrors Dazzle from the linked ally's position — since the stun fires from two points simultaneously, enemies must dodge both beams or be stunned for 1.5 seconds; a max-health-scaling shield on Bastion that absorbs 7-11% of the linked ally's maximum health for 2.5 seconds while passively granting them 6-10% of Taric's armor; and Cosmic Radiance's 2.5-second team-wide invulnerability that fires from both Taric and his linked ally, making it one of the most powerful teamfight ultimates in the game when timed correctly. Taric wins by peeling for his ADC with Dazzle stuns and Starlight's Touch heals in lane, then enabling dive compositions and teamfight-winning plays with Cosmic Radiance's invulnerability in mid and late game.

Bravado (Passive) empowers Taric's next 2 basic attacks within 5 seconds after casting an ability. Each empowered attack gains 100% total attack speed, deals 25-101 (based on level 1-18) (+15% bonus armor) bonus magic damage, and reduces the cooldowns of Taric's basic abilities (Q, W, E) by 1 second (increased with ability haste). Bravado is the engine of Taric's kit — the cooldown reduction on auto attacks means that weaving two empowered autos between every ability cast drastically reduces all cooldowns simultaneously, turning Taric from a slow-casting support into a rhythm-based fighter who cycles through his abilities in rapid succession when he can stay in melee range.

Starlight's Touch (Q) has a 3-second cooldown and costs 60 mana at all ranks. Passively, Taric stores charges of Starlight's Touch up to a maximum of 1/2/3/4/5 charges, with each charge recharging every 15 seconds. Bravado empowered attacks each grant 1 charge. When activated, Taric spends all stored charges to heal himself and all nearby allied champions for 25 (+15% AP)(+1% maximum health) per charge consumed. At rank 5 with 5 charges, the maximum heal is 125 (+75% AP)(+5% maximum health). Starlight's Touch is Taric's primary sustain tool — the charge system rewards aggressive auto-attack weaving with Bravado to generate charges, and the AOE heal applies to all nearby allies including the Bastion-linked partner regardless of distance, making it a powerful teamfight healing ability.

Bastion (W) has a 15-second cooldown and costs 60 mana. Passively, the linked ally gains 6/7/8/9/10% of Taric's bonus armor. When activated, Taric shields the target ally for 7/8/9/10/11% of their maximum health for 2.5 seconds and designates them as his Bastion partner. The key mechanic is that while linked, all of Taric's abilities (Q heal, E stun, R invulnerability) are simultaneously cast from both Taric and his linked ally's position — the effects do not stack, but the dual positioning creates overlapping zones of healing, stunning, and invulnerability. Cast range is 800 units and the tether range is 1300 units. Bastion is Taric's most unique ability — the ability to mirror all casts from an ally's position means a diving bruiser or assassin carries Taric's stun and invulnerability into the enemy backline while Taric stays safe.

Dazzle (E) has a 16/15/14/13/12-second cooldown and costs 40 mana. After a 1-second wind-up, Taric projects a beam of starlight in the target direction, dealing 90/130/170/210/250 (+50% AP)(+50% bonus armor) magic damage and stunning all enemies hit for 1.5 seconds. The beam also fires simultaneously from the Bastion-linked ally's position. The beam width is 140 units and the range is 575 units. Dazzle is Taric's primary crowd control — while the 1-second wind-up makes it telegraphed and dodgeable in isolation, the dual beams from Taric and his Bastion partner create crossing angles that are extremely difficult to dodge, especially when the linked ally is positioned aggressively behind or beside the enemy.

Cosmic Radiance (R) has a 180/150/120-second cooldown and costs 100 mana. After a 2.5-second delay, Taric and all nearby allies become invulnerable for 2.5 seconds. The invulnerability also applies around the Bastion-linked ally's position with a 400-unit radius. Cosmic Radiance is one of the most powerful ultimates in League of Legends — 2.5 seconds of team-wide invulnerability can completely negate enemy burst compositions, enable tower dives with zero risk, survive Baron or Elder Dragon fights through lethal damage windows, and turn lost teamfights into won ones. The 2.5-second delay before activation is the ability's primary counterplay — enemies can disengage, save burst for after the invulnerability expires, or focus Taric to kill him before it activates.

Strengths

  • Cosmic Radiance's 2.5-second team-wide invulnerability is one of the most powerful teamfight ultimates in the game — when timed correctly, it negates entire burst rotations from enemy assassins and mages, enables risk-free tower dives, and lets your team win teamfights that would otherwise be unwinnable by simply surviving through the enemy's damage window — The dual application from Bastion means a diving ally also carries the invulnerability zone into the enemy backline
  • Bravado's empowered auto attacks reduce all basic ability cooldowns by 1-2 seconds per hit, and since each ability cast empowers the next two autos, Taric creates a continuous cycle of ability-auto-auto that rapidly cycles his cooldowns — in extended fights, this means multiple Dazzle stuns, constant Starlight's Touch heals, and repeated Bastion shields that outpace the sustained damage of most opponents — The 100% bonus attack speed and 15% bonus armor magic damage scaling also make Taric a surprisingly strong duelist against champions who underestimate his melee damage
  • Bastion's ability mirroring creates unique crowd control geometry that no other champion can replicate — Dazzle fires from both Taric and the linked ally simultaneously, creating crossing stun beams that cover angles and positions impossible to dodge when the linked ally is positioned correctly — This mechanic also means Taric's heals and invulnerability reach allies across the map if his Bastion partner is far away
  • Taric naturally counters engage and dive compositions because Dazzle's 1.5-second stun punishes champions who dash into melee range (Blitzcrank, Nautilus, Pantheon), Starlight's Touch heals through burst damage, and Cosmic Radiance's invulnerability completely negates the all-in window that dive champions rely on — His 64.64% win rate against Blitzcrank demonstrates how engage supports cannot threaten a lane that heals through hooks and stuns the hooker

Weaknesses

  • Taric is completely immobile with no dashes, blinks, or movement speed steroids — he relies entirely on walking to reach enemies for Bravado auto attacks and Dazzle stuns, making him extremely vulnerable to kiting, slows, and ranged poke that keeps him permanently out of melee range — His low pick rate of 1.3% partly reflects this limitation in a meta that often favors mobile supports
  • Dazzle's 1-second wind-up is clearly telegraphed by an animation and indicator, giving enemies a full second to sidestep or dash out of the beam — without Bastion's dual-beam geometry or Flash, landing Dazzle in isolation is unreliable against opponents with any mobility or awareness — This makes Taric heavily dependent on his Bastion partner's positioning for reliable stun angles
  • Cosmic Radiance's 180-second cooldown at rank 1 is one of the longest in the game, and the 2.5-second delay before activation means enemies can simply disengage when they see the visual effect, wait out the invulnerability, and then re-engage when it expires — mistiming the ultimate by even half a second renders it completely wasted — Skilled opponents will bait the ultimate and then punish the long cooldown window
  • Taric struggles severely against poke and range compositions — Xerath, Vel'Koz, and Sona can harass him and his ADC from outside Dazzle range, and his Starlight's Touch healing cannot keep pace with sustained long-range damage without Bravado auto attacks to generate charges — His 42.25% win rate against Xerath support demonstrates how poke-heavy matchups deny his ability to function

Recommended Runes

Support: Glacial Augment (Inspiration) — Most Popular

The recommended rune page for Taric support is Glacial Augment in the Inspiration tree. Glacial Augment synergizes with Taric's playstyle by creating a slowing zone when he immobilizes enemies with Dazzle, making it easier for his team to follow up on his stun with additional damage and crowd control.

  • Glacial Augment — Creates rays of ice that slow enemies when you immobilize them. Glacial Augment is the optimal keystone for Taric because Dazzle's 1.5-second stun triggers the slowing zone, and the slow field persists after the stun expires, extending the total crowd control duration and ensuring enemies cannot simply walk away after being stunned.
  • Magical Footwear — Grants free Slightly Magical Boots at 12 minutes (reduced by takedowns). Magical Footwear saves 300 gold on a support budget where every gold piece matters, and the bonus movement speed helps Taric close the gap into melee range for Bravado auto attacks.
  • Biscuit Delivery — Grants free biscuits that restore health and mana. Biscuit Delivery provides critical mana sustain in lane — Taric's 60-mana costs on Q and W drain his mana pool quickly, and the permanent mana increase from each consumed biscuit expands his mana pool for extended fights.
  • Cosmic Insight — Grants summoner spell haste and item haste. Cosmic Insight reduces Flash and Heal/Exhaust cooldowns for more frequent plays, and provides item haste for faster Locket of the Iron Solari active cooldowns — both critical for a support who relies on timed ability windows.

Secondary — Resolve

  • Conditioning — Grants bonus armor and magic resistance after 12 minutes. Conditioning amplifies Taric's armor scaling — the bonus armor increases Bravado's magic damage, Dazzle's bonus armor ratio damage, and the armor shared through Bastion's passive, creating a multiplicative benefit unique to Taric.
  • Revitalize — Increases healing and shielding on low-health targets. Revitalize amplifies Starlight's Touch heals and Bastion shields, especially on allies below 40% health where the bonus is doubled — this makes Taric's clutch heals significantly more effective in close fights.

Alternative: Grasp of the Undying (Resolve) — Highest Win Rate

An alternative rune page for Taric is Grasp of the Undying in the Resolve tree (54.47% win rate, 2,939 games on Lolalytics). Grasp provides stronger laning presence by turning Bravado auto attacks into empowered trades that deal bonus damage and heal Taric.

  • Grasp of the Undying — Periodically empowers basic attacks to deal bonus magic damage, heal, and permanently increase health. Grasp synergizes with Taric's auto-attack-heavy playstyle — Bravado encourages constant ability-auto weaving, which naturally procs Grasp on cooldown during trades for bonus damage, sustain, and stacking health.
  • Shield Bash — Empowers the next basic attack after gaining a shield. Shield Bash triggers from Bastion's shield, adding bonus damage and resistances to Taric's next auto attack after shielding himself.
  • Conditioning — Same as above — bonus armor and MR after 12 minutes amplifies Taric's armor scaling across his entire kit.
  • Revitalize — Same as above — increased healing and shielding on low-health targets.

Secondary — Precision (with Grasp)

  • Presence of Mind — Restores mana on champion damage. Presence of Mind addresses Taric's mana issues by restoring mana during trades — since Bravado auto attacks count as champion damage, every empowered auto restores mana to sustain his ability cycling.
  • Legend: Alacrity — Grants bonus attack speed. Legend: Alacrity improves Taric's auto-attack weaving between abilities, making Bravado procs smoother and faster for more rapid cooldown reduction.

Stat Shards

  • Adaptive Force — Bonus ability power increases Starlight's Touch heal scaling, Dazzle's AP ratio, and improves early trade damage.
  • Movement Speed / Armor — Movement Speed helps Taric close the gap into melee range for Bravado auto attacks, while Armor is taken against heavy AD bot lanes for direct durability and Bravado/Dazzle scaling.
  • Health Scaling — Scaling health provides increasing durability throughout the game, complementing Taric's armor-focused itemization with health to round out his effective health pool.

Recommended Item Build

Based on data from ranked Taric matches tracked across multiple stat sites on Patch 16.6, the Locket of the Iron Solari into Knight's Vow build has the highest win rates for support. Here are the optimal build paths.

Standard Build (Support)

#### Early Game (0-10 min)

  • World Atlas — Grants gold generation and health. World Atlas is the standard starting support item for Taric (53.82% WR) that provides the gold income needed to reach his core items while offering health for laning trades.
  • Health Potions (x2) — Provide sustain during laning trades where Taric absorbs poke damage while looking for Dazzle stun opportunities.

#### Core Build (10-20 min)

  • Locket of the Iron Solari — Grants 25 armor, 25 magic resistance, 200 health, and an active shield for nearby allies. Locket of the Iron Solari (60.6% WR) is Taric's ideal first completed item because the armor amplifies Bravado's magic damage and Dazzle's bonus armor ratio, the active shield stacks with Bastion's shield and Starlight's Touch heals for massive burst protection, and the aura resistances benefit the entire team in grouped fights.
  • Plated Steelcaps — Grants armor and reduces incoming basic attack damage. Plated Steelcaps (58.33% WR) are the optimal boots for Taric because the armor directly amplifies Bravado's 15% bonus armor magic damage, Dazzle's 50% bonus armor damage ratio, and the armor shared through Bastion's passive — every point of armor on Taric is worth more than on any other support.
  • Knight's Vow — Grants 40 armor, 200 health, and a passive that redirects damage from a linked ally to Taric. Knight's Vow (60.08% WR) synergizes perfectly with Bastion — link Knight's Vow to the same ally as Bastion to redirect their damage to Taric while also sharing armor and mirroring abilities from their position.

#### Late Game (25+ min)

  • Winter's Approach / Fimbulwinter — Grants 550 health, 1000 mana, and a passive shield on immobilizing enemies. Fimbulwinter (62.98% WR) solves Taric's mana issues permanently with 1000 bonus mana, and the shield proc on Dazzle stuns provides additional survivability during teamfights — the massive health and mana pool also increases Starlight's Touch healing through the max health scaling.
  • Frozen Heart — Grants 70 armor, 400 mana, 20 ability haste, and a passive that reduces nearby enemies' attack speed. Frozen Heart provides a massive armor spike that amplifies every aspect of Taric's kit through his armor scaling — Bravado's bonus magic damage, Dazzle's bonus armor ratio, and Bastion's armor sharing all scale with the 70 armor, while the attack speed slow cripples enemy ADCs in teamfights.
  • Thornmail — Grants 50 armor, 350 health, and a passive that applies grievous wounds to attackers. Thornmail (63.71% WR) provides anti-heal that Taric applies naturally by being in melee range and absorbing damage from Knight's Vow's redirect, while the armor continues to scale his kit.

Situational Items

  • Bandlepipes — Strong option (68.87% WR) when enemies have heavy magic damage threats, providing magic resistance and utility for the team.
  • Redemption — Provides an active heal zone for teamfights that stacks with Starlight's Touch healing and Cosmic Radiance invulnerability for maximum team protection.
  • Mikael's Blessing — Cleanse an ally's crowd control — essential when the enemy team has catch abilities (Morgana snare, Ashe arrow) that could kill your carry before Cosmic Radiance activates.
  • Zeke's Convergence — Links to an ally for bonus damage after using your ultimate, synergizing with Cosmic Radiance's activation to empower your ADC during the invulnerability window.
  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity — Alternative boots when ability haste is more valuable than the armor from Plated Steelcaps, providing faster ability cycling and summoner spell haste.

Highest Win Rate 3-Item Combinations

The highest win rate support build is Locket of the Iron Solari + Plated Steelcaps + Knight's Vow, which provides the optimal balance of team protection through Locket's active shield, armor scaling through Steelcaps and Knight's Vow amplifying Bravado and Dazzle damage, damage redirection through Knight's Vow paired with Bastion's link, and durability through combined armor and health. This build maximizes Taric's identity as an armor-stacking enchanter-tank who protects his team through heals, shields, stuns, and invulnerability.

Ability Priority

Support: Q > E > W (R at 6, 11, 16)

  1. Starlight's Touch (Q) — Max first. Each rank increases maximum stored charges from 1 to 5 and maintains the 25 (+15% AP)(+1% max health) heal per charge. Q max provides dramatically increasing heal output — at rank 1 with 1 maximum charge, Starlight's Touch heals for 25 (+1% max health), but at rank 5 with 5 charges, the maximum heal jumps to 125 (+5% max health). Since Bravado auto attacks generate charges, maxing Q first rewards aggressive auto-weaving with multiplicatively increasing sustain.
  2. Dazzle (E) — Max second. Each rank increases damage from 90 to 250 (+50% AP)(+50% bonus armor) and reduces cooldown from 16 to 12 seconds. E max second provides meaningful damage increases and more frequent stuns — the 4-second cooldown reduction between rank 1 and rank 5 means significantly more stun opportunities in extended fights, and the bonus armor scaling makes Dazzle increasingly powerful as Taric builds armor items.
  3. Bastion (W) — Max last. Each rank increases the passive armor share from 6% to 10% and the shield from 7% to 11% of the linked ally's max health. W is maxed last because the per-rank improvements are incremental — the 1% shield increase per rank and 1% armor share increase provide less immediate value than Q's charge scaling and E's cooldown reduction and damage increase.
  4. Cosmic Radiance (R) — Level at 6, 11, and 16. Each rank reduces cooldown from 180 to 120 seconds. Level 6 Cosmic Radiance provides an immediate game-changing power spike — the 2.5-second team-wide invulnerability transforms Taric from a sustain support into a teamfight-deciding champion who can negate entire enemy burst windows.

Level-by-level order: E, W, Q, Q, Q, R, Q, E, Q, E, R, E, E, W, W, R, W, W.

Summoner Spells

Support

  • Flash — Flash is essential on Taric for Flash-E stun combos that catch enemies at unexpected range when the Dazzle wind-up would otherwise be dodged, escaping ganks as an immobile melee support, and Flash-engaging into teamfights to maximize Cosmic Radiance's invulnerability coverage. Taken in every game.
  • Heal — Heal is the standard secondary spell for Taric support (54.66% WR), providing an additional burst heal and movement speed boost that complements Starlight's Touch. The movement speed bonus also helps immobile Taric and his ADC reposition during fights. Taken as the default choice.
  • Exhaust — Alternative to Heal against assassins or burst-heavy compositions. Exhaust's damage reduction stacks with Cosmic Radiance's invulnerability timing to further neutralize enemy burst windows, and the slow helps Taric reach melee range for Bravado auto attacks.
  • Ignite — Aggressive alternative for kill lanes. Ignite provides grievous wounds and kill pressure during Dazzle stun windows, but sacrifices the defensive utility of Heal or Exhaust that Taric's protective kit benefits from.

Playstyle Tips

Early Game / Laning Phase (0-14 min)

Taric's early game in bot lane focuses on surviving poke, sustaining with Starlight's Touch charges, and looking for Dazzle stun opportunities to set up kills with the ADC.

Level 1-2: Start Dazzle (E) at level 1 for the stun threat — even without Bastion's dual beam, the 1.5-second stun at level 1 is strong enough to win level 1 trades if the enemy walks into range. Take Bastion (W) at level 2 to link with your ADC — now Dazzle fires from both you and your ADC, creating crossing stun angles that are nearly impossible to dodge when positioned correctly. The level 2 power spike with E+W is one of the strongest in bot lane because the dual Dazzle beams catch enemies off guard.

Level 3+: Take Starlight's Touch (Q) at level 3 to unlock healing. From this point, the core gameplay loop is: cast an ability → auto attack twice (Bravado) → cast next ability → auto attack twice. Each Bravado proc generates a Q charge and reduces all cooldowns by 1-2 seconds. In trades, the combo is: W shield your ADC → E stun the enemy → auto twice → Q heal → auto twice → E is nearly off cooldown again. Against poke-heavy supports like Xerath or Vel'Koz, play defensively and focus on generating Q charges through Bravado autos on minions during safe windows.

Warding: Taric's lack of mobility makes him vulnerable to ganks. Ward the river bush and tri-bush consistently, and avoid pushing too far forward without vision — being caught in the river without Flash is often fatal for an immobile melee support.

Mid Game & Teamfights (14-25 min)

Mid-game Taric with Locket of the Iron Solari completed is a teamfight-defining support who enables dive compositions with Cosmic Radiance and peels for carries with Dazzle stuns and Starlight's Touch heals.

Taric's mid-game strategy revolves around staying with his team for grouped objectives and teamfights. Link Bastion to whoever is most likely to dive into the enemy team — a bruiser like Jax or an assassin like Zed carrying your stun and invulnerability into the backline is devastating. Before Dragon or Rift Herald fights, ensure Bastion is linked to the right ally, and position so your Dazzle beam covers the likely fight area from both your position and your linked ally's position.

In teamfights, Taric's priority order is: activate Cosmic Radiance 2.5 seconds before the enemy's burst lands → Dazzle stun key targets → Locket active shield → Bravado auto attacks to cycle cooldowns → Starlight's Touch heals. The 2.5-second delay on Cosmic Radiance requires anticipation — activate it when you see the enemy team committing to their engage, not after their damage has already landed. Against compositions with delayed burst (Zed's Death Mark, Fizz's Chum the Waters), time Cosmic Radiance to make your team invulnerable when the delayed damage triggers.

Late Game (25+ min)

Late-game Taric with full armor items is a nearly unkillable wall whose armor scaling makes Bravado autos deal significant magic damage, Dazzle stuns chunk for meaningful damage through bonus armor ratios, Bastion shares massive amounts of armor to the linked ally, and Cosmic Radiance's 120-second cooldown at rank 3 means team-wide invulnerability is available for nearly every major fight.

In the late game, Taric's Cosmic Radiance becomes the single most important ability in teamfights. Coordinate with your team to engage around your ultimate's cooldown — fighting without Cosmic Radiance available is significantly weaker. Around Baron and Elder Dragon, the threat of team-wide invulnerability forces the enemy team to either engage before Taric can react or disengage entirely, giving your team control over the objective.

Target selection for Bastion shifts in the late game — link to whichever ally is most likely to be in the center of the enemy team during fights. A frontline tank carrying your invulnerability zone covers the most allies, while a diving assassin carrying your stun creates picks that the enemy cannot counterplay.

Matchups

Support

#### Favorable

  • Blitzcrank — Taric wins against Blitzcrank (~64.64% WR). Blitzcrank's Rocket Grab pulls him or his ADC into Taric's melee range, which is exactly where Taric wants to fight. Taric's Dazzle stun punishes Blitzcrank's post-hook aggression, Starlight's Touch heals through the burst damage, and Cosmic Radiance negates Blitzcrank's all-in windows entirely. Getting hooked as Taric is often advantageous because it positions him for free Bravado auto attacks.
  • Nautilus — Taric wins against Nautilus (~58.61% WR). Nautilus's engage-heavy kit plays directly into Taric's strengths — Dredge Line pulls Nautilus into Taric's stun range, and Taric's sustained healing outheals Nautilus's burst combo. Cosmic Radiance completely neutralizes Nautilus's Depth Charge lockdown engage, removing his primary teamfight contribution.
  • Pantheon — Taric wins against Pantheon (~57.66% WR). Pantheon's aggressive laning with Shield Vault stun and Comet Spear poke is countered by Taric's healing sustain and his ability to stun Pantheon back with Dazzle after Pantheon commits to his engage.

#### Even

  • Thresh — Taric fights approximately even against Thresh (~50% WR). Thresh's Death Sentence hook is a skill matchup — if Taric dodges the hook, he wins the trade with Dazzle stun and Bravado auto attacks; if Thresh lands the hook, the Flay followup can interrupt Taric's Dazzle wind-up. Thresh's lantern also provides escape utility that Taric cannot match.
  • Leona — Taric fights approximately even against Leona (~49% WR). Both champions want to fight at melee range and both have strong crowd control. The matchup depends on timing — if Taric Dazzles first, he wins the trade; if Leona Zenith Blades in first, her combo locks Taric down before he can react.

#### Unfavorable

  • Xerath — Taric loses to Xerath (~42.25% WR). Xerath's 1000+ range poke with Arcanopulse and Shocking Orb keeps Taric permanently out of melee range where he needs to be for Bravado auto attacks. Taric's Dazzle wind-up is easily dodged at range, and Starlight's Touch cannot sustain through Xerath's sustained poke without Bravado charges.
  • Sona — Taric loses to Sona (~44.55% WR). Sona's ranged poke with Hymn of Valor and her sustain with Aria of Perseverance outpace Taric's healing in lane because she never needs to enter his melee range. Sona's Crescendo ultimate also disrupts Taric's Cosmic Radiance timing.
  • Vel'Koz — Taric loses to Vel'Koz (~44.57% WR). Vel'Koz's long-range poke with Plasma Fission and Void Rift chips down Taric and his ADC from outside Dazzle range, and his Tectonic Disruption knockup interrupts Taric's approach. Vel'Koz's Lifeform Disintegration Ray also melts Taric's health pool even through his armor stacking.

Best ADC Synergies

Taric pairs best with aggressive, short-range ADCs who benefit from his peel and invulnerability:

  • Draven — Draven's aggressive laning pairs perfectly with Taric's Dazzle stun for kill setup, and Cosmic Radiance lets Draven dive aggressively without dying.
  • Kog'Maw — Kog'Maw's immobile hypercarry playstyle benefits enormously from Taric's Bastion armor share, healing, and invulnerability protection.
  • Lucian — Lucian's short-range burst trading pairs well with Taric's Dazzle stun for locked-down all-ins, and Bastion's ability mirroring from Lucian's position creates aggressive stun angles.
  • Jinx — Jinx's late-game scaling and immobility make Cosmic Radiance's protection invaluable, and her Flame Chompers synergize with Dazzle's stun for layered crowd control.

Recent Patch Changes

Taric's current state in Patch 16.6 reflects a niche but powerful enchanter-tank support with one of the highest win rates in the role — he thrives as a counter-pick against engage compositions where Cosmic Radiance's invulnerability negates entire enemy all-in windows, and his armor scaling creates a multiplicative benefit from tank items that other supports cannot match.

His low 1.3% pick rate belies his effectiveness — Taric is a "sleeper pick" that players overlook due to his melee range and reliance on auto-attack weaving, but his 52.1% win rate and 54.47% win rate with Grasp of the Undying demonstrate his strength when piloted by experienced players. His kit's power lies in Bravado's cooldown reduction engine that cycles abilities in rapid succession when he can stay in melee range, Starlight's Touch's charge-based AOE healing that scales with auto-attack weaving and maximum health, Bastion's ability mirroring that creates unique geometric stun angles and carries invulnerability to diving allies, Dazzle's dual-beam 1.5-second stun that becomes unavoidable with proper Bastion positioning, and Cosmic Radiance's team-wide invulnerability that is simply the most powerful defensive ultimate in the game — making him particularly strong in coordinated play and duo queue where his Bastion partner understands how to position for mirrored abilities.
